I just hope the guy doesnt get assassinated, you're gonna see some serious rioting if that happens
(here in Toronto also).

My guess is they'll dwarf the Rodney King riots

Obama can go on TV for 30 minutes and not mention John McCain even once.

No way would the reverse ever be true.
That, I think, is exactly why the wheels fell off the McCain bus. Instead of telling voters what he would do as President, he spent far too much time, energy and effort hurling shit at Obama.

Obama reacted by pretty much staying above the fray, talking policy rather than Rove-style campaigning, and it's clearly paid off.

The issue I have with him is he IS a rock star and has Hollywood celebrity. There has been no critical evaluation of him, his background, his skills or his policies, without his sicophants and minions dismissing it outright with "Do you want more of the same?" or drowning it in a chorus of "You're a racist" chant.

What saddens me is the Republicans have offered up duds to oppose Obama, so there really is no viable alternative.

Sad that we're approaching third world reactions and behaviours. We should be setting examples not regressing to the lack of restraint and civility as a banana country.

Lets see in about 6 months to a year. I take the wait and see approach.

Not meant to be an insult to you or any supporters of Obama but i see way too many folks buying in to him because the glitz and smoothness. I hope he is all the things he projects. See you in about a year. Enjoy your commentary.
You could be right Onehunglow - but, what choice do the voters have - McCain/Palin - please! Personally, I think Obama will do fine and really in this election there is no one else to vote for anyway, so hopefully everyone will rally behind him - for the good of the entire world.

Interesting poll....but I still think it will be a landslide Obama victory and I think this poll helped cement that result. The one thing that Obama had to fear, besides a possible Bradley effect, would be supporter complacency. This poll should help him get the vote out.....and then....lights out, McCain!

I think McCain is a stand-up guy, smart and on point to this day. However his selection of Palin as running mate ended any chance I'd endorse his ticket.
.... but you think he's smart ???? And he picked Palin ???? Please - McCain is about as smart as an unborn dog!

FWIW as a Canadian, I have the greatest respect for John McCain, just based on his Vietnam war record. However, "the maverick" had to give in to the party bosses, and take Palin as the VP candidate, to get the lunatic fringe, religious right behind him. If he was younger...but Palin as POTUS? No way.

Obama may just be the real deal. Sure, maybe some of his promises might be pie-in-the-sky stuff, but imagine if he had the money they are spending on wars on two fronts to spend at home.

If he can achieve even half the issues he talked about on the infomercial, America will be a better place four years from now.

That's if he lives...."someone" said it's easy to kill POTUS....as long as you don't care about getting away.

Excuse me, but what part of being a "war hero" makes you qualified to run the country? I just don't get this.
Read his whole post, Mao....he never suggests that McCain is qualified to be President because of his war record.....his post supports Obama..

You said Obama had lots of security.

The terrorist plot to kidnap and hold POTUS hostage was aided by a Secret Service agent.

Sure...it's just a movie, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Ok...I'll make this easier for you.

McCain - good man - bad party.

Obama - good man - good party.

I support Obama, but respect McCain as well.

Its not the glitz and smoothness, it's what the guy says. His ideas and policies make sense. This makes him popular, and then to the uninformed it looks like glitz and smoothness. You might want to watch that video again.

When i talk about the folks who i described as taken in by the glitz and Obama's smoothness I"m talking about the uninformed, easily swayed and led people who are all for Obama yet when asked, cannot think of even one of his policies or ideas. They can say that they liked him better than Hillary, that he is black and we need a black president, that he is younger than McCain etc etc but have no idea of what the man stands for and what he wants to do with the U.S. Their vote has been influenced only by the glitz and smoothness of Obama and not the important things we should look at like his policies.

Like my Uncle John in Ohio who answered the question "Why are you going to vote Republican"?......."Because i always do".
