I have never been a member of CAA as well, at least not a paid member. My car warranty includes towing in the warranty and last year I had an occasion where my relatively new car would not start. They sent a CAA flatbed car carrier to pick up the car. I was told that the cost to winch a car up on the flatbed and bring it to the dealer ( 10 min. away ) was over $500.

I have been a member on and off depending on my vehicle. It certainly hasn't cost me "thousands". It has saved me in the past so I think it's worth it if you travel by car/truck often like I do. When we camped we had it and it saved me big time one summer in New Brunswick. I buy my gas at Husky and get a big discount on membership each year.

Same with me . Have used them in the past . Glad that I was a member . I have the plus package so I get 300 k for towing ( I think that's what it is ) which is nice . One hour wait time is normal , even at the best of times with great driving conditions . I call it peace of mind . You just never know when you might need them . Besides those highway robbers will really stick it to you when they can .

Personally, I think CAA is a great deal. I haven't had it in awhile because I've been buying newer cars, but before that I had it on a 15-year-old car for 3 years @~$110/year = $330. In that time, I used two tow trips for a combined 300km, and two boosts. And peace of mind. Service was prompt too. My guess is I saved 50% of what I would have had to pay.

wouldn't drive a mile without my CAA!!

In the past twelve months I've run out of gas once (free $20 gas deliver)
left my keys in the car (free break in service)
killed my battery (free boost)
got hit by a transport truck (totaled my SUV and was towed 240km)
and helped a buddy who's trailer had broken down (flatbed tow 150km)

all that for $159 per year ... hell ya. What a deal.

As soon as my vehicle free road side assistance finished, I got CAA. I look at as part of my insurance policy. Had a flat tire in the middle of winter on QEW, car trouble requiring towing to the dealership ... I think it is a great deal.

CAA is great never had to wait very long most times....Stranded in Syracuse NY one winter day on a sunday with a nail in my tire....the AAA guy fixed my tire on the spot and had me on my way.

A CAA membership covers any vehicle you drive, not just yours. I've used it to tow a friend's car multiple occasions. You don't even have to be there LOL
I have the PLUS membership , for $114 a year it's cheap insurance , shit happens on the road no matter how well you maintain your vehicles.

Absolutely a must if you have a motorcycle. Try getting your bike towed 200 k and see what it will cost you. You do need CAA plus for this service.

So you base the response time for the CAA on a snowstorm day/period? LOL. What's a hour wait? It took me 2 hours to get to work on what is normally a 30 minute drive.

I maintain my cars also (at least, according to manufacturer specs/schedules). I've used the CAA three times this year already for my own cars (two fail to start and one torn tire stem). But, most valuable of all, also occurring this past year, was getting towed when a rented car died while on holidays. I had always assumed that rental car agencies provided roadside assistance. Nope. They said it was my problem to get it back to one of their locations.

It was National. They didn't have a local office in the town we were staying at so they sent us to an Enterprise office.

I was told it was the same across their related companies (Enterprise/National/Alamo)
