I hate what RAP/HIP HOP has turned into (for the most part)

I don't mind the music, but the mark it has made on popular culture has been very negative in some very important ways.I know all music makes a mark in some way and different generations have been saying the last popular form of music has the worst influence .

Having said that, I've yet to see a musical genre to so glamourize greed, sexism(yes i know where i am posting this-and calling the ladies on here ho's,bitches, or skanks is rare and usually shouted down),decadence, and a simple"me first at all costs " attitude as hip- hop and Rap in general.

Ho's are whores, Bitches are obedient dogs, and pimps usually keep order through some pretty nasty ways in order to degrade their "property " even further then they already do to make money off their bodies.Doesn't sound near as sexy and hip now hmm?

There are some very poingnant thinkers among the industry for sure but the majority all sing about the same thing and the videos reflect that.i personally know black men(yes, I state now..i know black people..and they know me:D )that are embarrassed by what they see in alot of the videos.Cheers

Rap (crap), hip hop or whatever you call this shit is the latest version of the music industries dumbing down of music to appeal to less and less sophisticated audience.

lowest common denominator music , computer generated percussion tracks, sampled sounds and some dude talking fast in meaningless rhyme.

WTF is that?

I whole heartedly disagree. In my opinion, what you are talking about is little boy / girl bands.

Keep in mind, even though the drums are computer generated, somebody has to program them. I have used a drum machine for years while playing guitar, beats the hell out of a metronome. Sampled sounds, I agree it can be a cheap way out. But on the other hand, the composers are getting paid royalties and many of them were very popular songs to begin with. They are now appealing to a different audience than before.

The meaningless rhymes often do make a lot of sense, however one must almost learn another language to understand some of them Remember learning Shakespeare, (no I am not making a direct comparison), but the hip hop language is much the same in the manner that street language has evolved from the Kings English. Makes sense, though there are new words that one may not grasp unless taken in full context.

The part I myself do not like (though I am a huge fan of rap), it the utter disrespect for everyone. MF this, bitch that, it becomes annoying quite quickly.

Will Smith is no terrorist as far as I can tell.
Oh boy, a Run DMC Minister? Terrorist. "I'm da king of wap, sucka MC". Terrorist, can't even speak English.

Will Smith? Name one role in all of Will Smith's movies that is not a character like an everyday "Will Smith"? How about none. Will Smith gave up rapping, so maybe he has seen the light, if he learns how to act, rather than giving it to him. Many had to work from scratch. Will Smith got a lucky break (someone edited and played his very first record back in the 80's).

Rap is crap and all rappers are terrorists.

Such polarizing genre , eh ?

Most folks either like it or hate it.
...is exactly how our parents felt about rock, and their parents about swing.

There are good and bad examples of any musical genre, and there will be people who love it and who hate it...

What else is new?

Over the years Ive had my taste in music change quite a bit. I used to love rap for some reason now I like some songs but cant stand most and stick to rock. I hate what it has done to my generation. All I see these days is teenage boys and young men dressing like they're gangters or should i say gangstas its quite annoying. Especially when I go home to nb and all my younger brothers friends are talkin about what a hard life it is on the streets when they've never even had to pay a bill and live with thier parents. And not to mention the disrespectful terms they use about women then go on to talk about how they are going to beat someone because they dont respect them. Thank god my brother only hangs out with these kids and still acts like a normal teenager should. Of course that could be because he knows if I ever head him talking like that Id smack him pretty hard.

myself personally i say that i don't like rap/hip hop mainly because most of the artists out there just send out the wrong message, all the songs are exactly the same now, about money, pimping, drugs and violence. Whatever happened to hip hop with a message? I do like stuff like KRS ONE, but thats not really new anymore.

I don't really give a shit what they talk about or what the message is, as long as it makes my W7's bump, that's all that matters...

Yep, and the chicks are hot looking, have to give them credit when it comes to the chicks, they could pick them out for me :p

Not for them saying pimping is great, etc but you don't see them kissing their wife, g/f butts like some guys do.

in my pants, where there's a party
Like any music genre, rap/hip hop will have its geniuses and its idiots. Although my favourite modern music tends towards EBM, britpop, and goth, I still enjoy listening to Cypress Hill, LL Cool J, and Jay Z. Granted, these guys haven't been prevalent in the scene in the last little while, but it's these artists that make the genre valid.

As a whole, the music industry is crap. The find a genre, market it to death, dumb it down, then move on, leaving a hollow husk. They did it with goth music in the 90's with Marilyn Manson, while you had bands like London After Midnight or the Cruxshadows no one outside of the scene has ever heard of.

If you want to blame someone for the crap that's being listened to, blame the RIAA/CRIAA. Music should never be a business, it should come from the soul to feed souls.

1 persons junk is another's treasures.

You have to hand it to some of those rappers how fast they can talk-rap. Thats an art many folks can't do.

Its like Opera, only a few people can sing Opera and not everybody likes Opera. Operas may not be about drugs but sex, death is in many story lines.

I'm just expressing my opinion.

Would you care to explain why "I have no clue" or do you just like insulting people ?????????????

Rap music is crap!
I love insulting people but in this case my statement was based on your clueless statement that all rap sounds the same. That would be like saying all rock, opera, or jazz sounds the same.

If you don't like the type of music, then that's your choice. But to say "you hear one song, you've heard them all" is clueless.
