I Hate Shootouts

i was one of those players who grinded up and down his wing and played a checking / defensive role , and i never got called on to be in a shoot out and that suited me just fine.....

glad you got so much ice time! lol... i sat on the bench until coach tapped me on the shoulder (once per period if i was lucky)...

After the All Star Break up until Feb 28, 2007
total NHL games played so far 246
# that ended in regulation 172 (69.8%)
# that ended in OT 30 (12.6%)
# that ended in Shootout 42 (17.6%)

March 1st to 4th have already seen 14 of 32 games reach OT. that's a whopping 43.8% of games...
so, only 56% of the games in the last 4 days ended in regulation!!!

Definitely a possibility for alot of ties. too much IMO. and my prediction is that the ratio will continue to climb as a percentage from now until the end of the season as compared to the pre All Star break percentage of 19.6%. it just makes sense as each game becomes more important.

amusingly, this never helps the cause of teams seated 9th to 12th place, though.

pitts just beat philly in a shoot out......only part of the game i stopped cleaning, sat down and watched............

and Gary Roberts had a 3 point game!

oh yeah, and 4 of the 8 games today ended via shootout!
