The Toronto Raptors plan to retire Vince Carter’s number 15 before a regular-season game against the Sacramento Kings on Nov. 2, according to reporting by Sportsnet.

Carter’s No. 15 will be the first retired jersey in the organization’s history and coincides with former Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan playing in Toronto as a member of the Kings.

Carter is widely considered one of the best players to wear a Raptors jersey. He played seven seasons in Toronto from his rookie year to 2004-05. As a member of the Raptors, he received votes for the league’s Most Valuable Player on four separate occasions and was a six-time NBA All-Star. Carter was named Rookie of the Year in 1998-99.

With Toronto, Carter averaged just over 23 points per game with 3.9 assists, 5.2 rebounds and a .383 three-point percentage.

It was a nice ceremony and well deserved, VC was humble and so appreciative. I found MU's speech a bit weird - was wondering if anyone else felt that.

Known for his amazing dunks and scoring, helped put the Raptors on the map. His retirement will celebrate his legacy and the “Vinsanity” era. What a legend.

End of an era.
Sure.
Will never forget what he did for the Raptors and Canadian Basketball.
BUT
I will also never forget his numerous back
injuries and coincided with the Raptors downward spiral for a year and his subsequent trade.
Also will never forget how he went on stage to dance vigorously when P Diddy came to town for a show, while he was suffering from a back injury.
I am not saying that his injuries were not legit and he that he didn’t suffer, , but the fact that it looks like he started not putting the same amount of effort when he returned because the Raptors were not contending.
I just remember watching the news of how he was dancing onstage during the Diddy concert while nursing back injury.
Had he been on an American NBA with a star he two, would he have gotten the same kind of love, attention and have his jersey retired?

Off topic slightly, reminds of when Phil Kessel came to the the Leafs, and was always reported as being the first player off the ice after practice, but would be spotted at
Raptors games eating junk.
When will Toronto Spirts franchises get the super stars again that are consistent and deliver in the playoffs? When will we get our Tom Brady, MJ23, Kobe?! And don’t say Kawaii, he is not close to
being the same ranks. Yes thanks for the ring, but he left.
Last super star team I would say imho are Jays ‘92-‘93.
Sorry for the rant, to say it stings being a TO sports fan these days would be an understatement.
Thanks MLSE! Your arenas and ball parks are always full and, with over inflated seat prices for teams that do 0 in the playoffs and we
we have 0 championships.
Respect to the Argos and TOFC.

Yes, but that did give him a ring.
I realize there are various more factors, but I’m so tired of Toronto sports fans being okay with the “it’s a rebuild season” attitude or first round fanatics.
Not hating on VC, (sorta lol) or your post, just have had almost enough.

I don't blame VC for not wanting to play for Richard Peddie, he could have orchestrated his exit with a little more tact.

VC was on the panel when Chuck had another viral moment.
