I didn't know he posted the same Herpes thread ten years ago. If true, then I apologize for defending him and calling you out.
It was mentioned in the earlier part of the thread. There is a link somewhere in this crazy thread.

No hard feelings at all. Happy holidays.

Something that confuses me a little, that I haven't really seen addressed yet - if you have HSV-1 which apparently 90% of people already have, you shouldn't then be able to contract HSV-1 AGAIN - via someone else's mouth onto your genitals, right?

To clarify, other posts have already explained that if you have HSV-1 ie; cold sores, you can still get HSV-2 on your genitals via coitus. I get that. And I get that you can even get (first time you're infected) HSV-1 on your genitals, not necessarily HSV-2.

With that said, wouldn't a BBBJ infection as OP suggests be an HSV-1 infection not HSV-2, as it's coming from his partner's mouth and not the genitals? Assuming he is of the 90%, he shouldn't be able to contract HSV-1 twice just in a whole new area?

If he wasn't of the 90% then, yeah, it makes sense.

Apologies if I'm misunderstanding this whole thing. I might just be confusing myself.

Since the virus lives in the nerve tract at a specific location on the dermis then other non infected areas are fair game for new infections.

This thread is a clusterf*ck.

Beyond that, has it been determined with strong confidence that the wife doesn't have some long-ago concerns relating to HSV-1 which have HER presently feeling guilty over all of this?

I read pages 1 through 5, and 9 through 11, but skipped the middle.

The lack of understanding by so many here would be laughable were it not so serious.

Herpes tends to nest near either end of the spine, and if one variety is already there, it is less likely that the other variety can make a home on that end as well.

(which means almost nothing to persons involved in this arena - as there are so many exponential opportunities for HSV1 and HSV2 to criss-cross among people who typically have multiple partners)

70-80% of everyone already has HSV1... potentially including assman's wife... so in fact SHE could be blaming herSELF for this new discovery.

Where if she knew herself to be sparkling clean and disease-free, she may have initiated a divorce by now.

It is entirely realistic that any of us could get genital HSV from bare contact with a partner, and so much so that to blame any particular provider for having HSV1 orally (like 70-80% of everyone) is quite stupid.

Anyone anywhere in this hobby should expect their next partner to already have HSV1 at the very least. Once there, you're playing a miniature game of Russian Roulette in which someone every now and then will be the one in Assman's present shoes.

It would be nice, however, that all of us would have enough common decency to at least refrain from intimate activity while cold sores are present.

And if you got HSV1 during childhood, from your MOTHER, then congratulations, you are of a higher moral fabric than are all other affected persons on TERB.

I have to laugh at the holier-than-thou attitude some people have on this subject. To SPs and clients alike, do you really think you can have dozens, if not hundreds of partners and walk away without something? You have no idea what someone has been up to outside of their time spent with you. Everyone in this industry has every reason to lie, and no reason to be honest. Clients want to keep seeing SPs, and SPs need to keep working.

It's no different than the porn industry. HSV and HPV are tolerated in that industry, otherwise it would collapse.

At least there is a blood test for HSV. HPV is another matter.

You're retired? How much longer do you think your cock will continue working whether you got herpes or not? Not talking down on you, just putting it out there.
I believe that he meant to say that he is fully retired from this hobby...

Not fair to say I posted the same thread years ago. It was discussed in this thread that I had a scare years ago, posted about it and then posted an update when the tests came back negative. This time is entirely different in that the tests came back positive. In hindsight I obviously wish I had learned my lesson years ago and quit after the scare. While the scare wasn't enough to make me quit, having a confirmed STI has put me into retirement. Apart from my wife, I have never had any contact with a civilian during my 20+ years of marriage, so quite certain I got it hobbying. My dad had cold sores when I was a child so my wife assumes I must have picked up HSV 1 in childhood like many people do and somehow spread it to my own genitals. I know she sounds incredibly naive, but this is actually possible (although pretty unlikely). In my case it may be a bit more believable as I take some immune suppressing medication for an auto immune condition and this actually makes me more susceptible (at least in theory) to infections and viruses. I think most spouses would be a lot more suspicious, but she seems to have accepted it and doesn't ask questions. We have resumed our sex life (using condoms and with me taking anti-viral medication) so hopefully I will never pass it on to her.

In contrast, rotavirus-induced plaque formation was reduced by 12.2% after 30 seconds of exposure to Listerine, whereas 5 minutes of exposure to Listerine resulted in a 21.5% increase in plaque formation.'

am i reading this right? that listerine has a greater effect on reducing the infectious nature of herpes, and actually INCREASES plaque formation (i'm guessing this is dental plaque)? like, what?
Plaques, in this case, are the holes that viruses make in a lawn of host cell as they burst them open. More plaques = more virus. This is perplexing. For rotavirus, 30 secs reduces plaques (ie kills virus) yet 5 min increases plaques (ie results in *more* virus). Don’t soak in Listerine too long for rotavirus lol.

whoa that's awesome! how has no one else commented on this study in this thread yet.

'Exposure to Listerine for 30 seconds had an antiviral effect against herpes simplex type-1 and type-2 (96.3% and 100% reduction in infectious virus, respectively) and influenza A (100% reduction). In contrast, rotavirus-induced plaque formation was reduced by 12.2% after 30 seconds of exposure to Listerine, whereas 5 minutes of exposure to Listerine resulted in a 21.5% increase in plaque formation.'

anyway i'm stocking up on listerine and i'm going to make all my clients douse their entire faces and genitals in it pre-session lol. maybe maybe SF2 but in listerine a mandatory part of every session.
Can't read the full paper, what do they define as an "antiviral effect"? How long does the effect last? If it's not long lasting it doesn't make much of a difference.

I'm sorry to hear about this, but thank you for your post. We all "know" that there are risks from this sport, but I know I tend to dismiss them.

I suspect you may be able to keep this hidden from the Missus with a little care. In many ways, her finding out is a "worst case" scenario I would think.
