Did anyone catch the movie called Human Trafficking on City this week?

While not as intense as what they showed on TV (and I'm not doubting that it does not exist), I can't help but to think that some of the girls her in TO are a result of something similar.

If you didn't see it, there's a clip here: http://www.citytv.com/toronto/greatmovies.aspx.
I read the review , by the way the specific situations they show are not real they are made up for the show.

I watched this program and although I'm sure it's based on reality it didn't look like the type of service used by reviewers on this board. The girls were very closely monitored, always under the watchful eye of the pimps who were trafficking them. These were brothels and not just agencies.

Aren't a lot of agencies simply brothels? I have no doubt this goes on (I only saw "part 1" of this), and I have been to a few asian places (and avoided ee ones rumoured to be pretty mob based) that seemed to come pretty close. When something is illegal and there is a lot of money involved, little doubt you are gonna attract some pretty nasty folks.

When folks complain about the LE crackdown, as long as they seem to keep finding people who should not be there (underage, illegals who do not speak the language and who knows how they got there), seems like they should keep doing the crackdowns.

I will say I think Robert Carlyle is a great actor. He did I think one of the best "bad guys" ever (Begbie in Trainspotting)... and I thought he was very good in the first part of this (did not see part 2).

When you suggest that agencies are simply brothels, I assume that you're talking about incalls. It may be that I'm not as aware of what goes on at asian and EE incalls because I live in Ottawa and there are no incalls here. The ones that I've heard of here have been short lived because they have been shut down by LE.

I agree with you that Robert Carlyle is great at playing the bad guy. He managed to pull off the ultimate role in this respect in "Hitler: The Rise of Evil".

I'm new here but have been lurking for a couple of years and felt the need to weigh in on this movie.

I think the movie revealed a fairly accurate depiction of the sex slave industry. I think you are naive to think it does not happen in a Metropolitan Cty like Toronto with somewhat lax prostitution laws.

I've read many reviews of girls whose english was poor, however they are from Russian or Poland or elsewhere in Eastern Europe. Did these women come here on there own to work as 21 year old SP with very little language skills or were they duped or kidnapped ??

I think many SP's are in it only for the money and that has been well discussed. However, some of these women may be trapped without their passports and have no way home or to a safe haven.

I for one have become very suspicious of some of these opertations and will choose to put my $$$ elsewhere.

My two cents...

Does anyone have proof that any girl here is actually trapped ?

I believe that escorts in Toronto do it at their own freewill no one is forcing them , especially indys ... in fact , I think they enjoy their job its easy and the money is very lucrative.

which bad dude did Robert Carlyle play ?

In this movie he was the head of the whole human trafficking ring.
I thought he played the doctor who was fondling the 7 years old filipino boy in the pool .

Robert Carlyle, Britain's most brilliant, versatile and sexy actor. The 44 year old Glaswegian has been a professional actor since 1986 when he graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama

No, he played the ring leader as mentioned here:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0461872/

You might also recognize him as "Begbie" from "Trainspotting" and "Hitler" in "Hitler: The Rise of Evil" as mentioned earlier.

I really thought he was Eastern European , he had the russian accent down pact . Mira Sovino did a good job too , she looked like a typical blonde police officer .

horrible what goes on

I hope all responsible Toronto hobbyists would inform on any operation that had kidnapped and abused slave girls working with them. That show really grossed me out with those inhuman and monstrous psychopaths.

I recall once calling up some hot blond babe from the Red Zone. A woman with a thick russian accent answered. "No" she said, "You cannot speak viss her, but geef me yore name, hand yu can make outcall wiss her." I had nothing more to do with that.

I have never come across anything as outright disgusting as what was depicted in the movie. But as per my original post, I do not doubt that this goes on right here in Toronto to a lesser degree. I suspect that there are lots of EE or Asian workers that are here paying off a debt to someone for getting them in to this country. While not living in the conditions shown in the movie, they were still brought here with the understanding of being a sex slave of some kind until their debt is paid.

This is just my speculation, I have no proof, and I do think it would be very niave to think this does not occur here in Toronto.

You can read more about it here: http://www.unodc.org/unodc/en/trafficking_human_beings.html

I watched this movie and I found it to be sad and disturbing, the thought of it makes me sick didn't know much about human trafficing and didn't realize that it was so big, I've heard stories before. I'm not sure what I'm more upset with the fact that these innocent people are pulled into these situations or the bastards that participate just to get their rocs off. It's just a sad thing what goes on

It happens everyday in every business. Whether it is here or far away on the other side of the world the global economy creates the demand for it.
Be it women sewing garments for pennies a day or people paying off their debt for immigration...... I remember the time in pakistan back packing and shooting (taking pictures). We were outside Multan (beautiful city with 2000 year old temples) one of our Sherpa hurt himself and i gave him a pair of Icelandic Wool socks and he wanted to give me his 10 year old daughter to make us even....... freaked me out.
Having frequented many an Asian and also the EE establishments the exact scenarios depicted on the movie and the CBC documentary on the same subject exist here and in the majority of the developed countries. We have all contributed to this demand one way or another. As long as the industry exists there will be individuals treated this way.

Alden & Aurthurs

Didn't Alden club and Aurthurs spa get that sort of reputation.

Authurs was shut down after a bust of guy breaking into a house in Richmond Hill to get a girl back or something like that?

I'm just speculating...but weren't there others. What happened to Bobby and her friend ?? Are they still around...

I don't think I would be comfortable giving my $$$ to any EE establishments whether incall, outcall or mp.
