Agreed. Not the job for a family man... that's for sure. At the time was much younger and single etc... and much more adventuresome then I am today... don't think I would do that job today. Also take into account wear and tear on car... my brand new car was DONE after 2 yrs. (resale value ZERO)

i think is each one their own choice to how she travel and i am sure she know what is the best for her.

the ladies advertise here on terb, going to agree TERB is very safe for the independent, working alone. But after 11pm i recommend to no one to work alone during the night.
the reason is simple, most of the time is during the night

John, i highly doubt most of the drivers you have spoken with have asked for 100 for a roundtrip to the airport. 50-60 is the going rate (which you are charging) and if "people" you are talking with are asking for 100, they must be amateurs from CL or something who have no idea what the going rate is...

total 2 way = 100$ or close too

50-60 is the going rate (which you are charging)

Probally you are true again, but i talk about my own experience in the last year in toronto, and i was probally not looking at the right place to have only find more expensif driver , if you compare to the going rates. the goal of Easy Ride 24h is to provide a driver service to all service providers in need of a good driver " at the going rates "

Well, my company pays us 46 cents per km to driver our cars for business purposes.

If you drive a load, that's paid off, it's probably worth it.

If you drive a good car, you're losing money.

Case in point. Say your sled is worth 50 grand (Accura TL, or the like). Say you put on 200,000 km purely for work purposes. (After 200,000 km, the car is pretty much worth shit.

200,000 km would net you $92,000 bucks.

Subtracting the 50k for the car, that means you're left with $42,000.

To drive 200,000 km, you'd use $25,000 worth of gas. That leaves $17,000 to cover maintenance, and insurance, and interest on the purchase of the car.

Guess what...

You're losing money.

BTW i have 4 friends cab drivers ( over 10 years experience ) always ready to have call from us at anytime if we need some help with the over call. ( guess what ? is the recession on their side too my friend )
girls have use cab a lots to go outside downtown and in the downtown area in the last years and this same drivers haved been really receptive to the extra $$ job they can get from friends.
Anyway we not looking for targeting the CABS business in toronto ! no thanks lol
just have couple driver available for anyone in the industries when they need it is the goal.
Agency's & independent haved used in the past high cost driver, now they ( for some ) find a way to sponge the new lower rates in the air all over .....

I've been told by a guy I work out with that if you're working independently for an agency you can easily make $200 to $400 a night (from 5 pm to 5 am)... It's tax free guys! i have a little story have happen last week.

Sunday morning ,
at my weekly meeting with michael, he have informe me about a situation.
At easy ride the lady have to pay her ride upfront and one of the ladies using our service last week have tell us she was affraid to pay any ride in advance. She have refuse to pay in advance because she have been ripped off by couple of independent driver advertising on the net.
( things like the driver ask to get paid in advance for an outcall 1h and after 30 min left and dont answer his phone anymore. this one was a call in new market she have informe michael).
michael have understand her point and for an exeption have proceed this way to show to the new custumer she was at the right place and this kind of thing not going to happen
with the team of driver @ Easy ride 24h.

Now she use our service everyday and never refuse to pay upfront because,
she now trust Easy ride.

E.R> the point I'm trying to make is that the insurance company does not know that the driver is using the vehicle as a taxi. I would think that legitimate cabs have very high rates for liability reasons. Mark my words if the insurance company is able to find out that their client is using the vehicle as a ghost cab they will terminate the policy tout suite or the driver's rates will go through the roof.
