As a long time die hard Colts fan (yes, since the late 1970's, just when they began a streak of about 20 years where they made the post season twice)....I think the strategy is to get the record done with as early as possible, and then begin working on a more balanced offensive attack in preparation for the playoffs. Everything Peyton has accomplished this year has been in warm weather or inside domed stadiums. If he has to play a January playoff game in Pittsburgh or New England, where cold hampers his and his receivers' grips, and the wind plays havoc with longer throws, they will have to have a running game in order to have half a chance at winning. And don;t forget, their offense is playing a dangerous game of trying to outscore what its defense will surely give up (last 2 opponents inability to score against Colt defense is irrelevant since it was Chicago and Detroit).
As a huge fan, as much as I'd love to believe this is the Colts' year, my gut feeling tells me the only way the Colts get to the Super Bowl is if they have home field advantage throughout the post season....
