How do you rate the Toronto Police Services?

My opinion of the TPS diminished when they initially ruled the deaths of Barry Sherman and his wife to be a murder-suicide.

They were both bound and strangled. How the fuck was Barry supposed to have tied himself up and then strangled himself?

Again, you can't judge an entire Police force by the actions of a few. I will agree that the Sherman case was a huge fuck up though.

For the most part, the majority of TPS personnel I've dealt with have been good. Then again, I'm not some asshole criminal. I also know many officers and have seen first hand some of the shit they deal with on a day-to-day basis. Quite frankly, you couldn't pay me enough to do that kind of work. For example, rushing to a call for "man with a gun, shots fired." No thanks!

My comment was not about frontline police calls -- it was about detective work and the utter lack of common sense with the Sherman case. If they can't put two and two together to understand that you cannot tie yourself up at the wrists and ankles and then strangle yourself, why are you doing detective work?

To be fair it was obviously a tough case and beyond the skills to solve. Best bury it under the rug and make everyone happy. The police is all about optics, not actual police work.
They where well aware that it was not a murder suicide to be clear but who wants that much time away from Tim Horton's? They get paid the same either way.

A lot of ex TPS cops on the force, easy last years of retirement. Toronto can be tough on mental health.

I can only imagine how traumatic it must be dealing with the scum of the earth every day. Must be equally disheartening because cops really don’t prevent crime, they are after the fact. Sounds like a terrible career.
