Good people. Post two is very accurate. There are often warnings etc. that proceed a ban that are not seen by the general populous. Many bans are for short periods. This one seems to be permanent.

I would agree that it might be a good idea to let people know what someone was banned for but it would become a difficult situation to manage. It would also start controversy.

Mod, in situations like this, does policy ever allow the permanent nature of the ban to be reconsidered after an appropriate period of time? He is a good guy who has helped others and is well thought of.

I'm willing to bet that many bans are from posters saying "screw you" to mods after a warning.
Not the case here, but when it happens the member is banning themselves.

I suspect the poster will be back here sooner than later...new name...new IP......and then let the games begin tryna ID him.

take Cycleguy for instance........

Somehow, I do not see a guy like OG2 doing someting like that. But I know it happens.

So, given that TERB is a business and that Fred and his minions are free to ban us at will, if we don't know what behavior will result in a banning how do we avoid it?

I expect that common sense and mutual respect between terbites would go a long way toward avoiding a ban.

In Merb they have a thread they tells everyone why someone gets banned and for how long. It is locked to non mods.
Seems to work well.

Disagreements can happen on the board, and sometimes, in the heat of the moment, one can say something that they might regret. I don't know what was said, but maybe they just need a time out. In such case, maybe a suspension would be more appropriate--say 1 or 2 months suspension. But a permanent ban seems harsh.

I hope the admin of this site would reconsider because OG2 adds a great deal of value to this board.

in the end, it seemed, no one else knew what they were talking about..

What is the point of this thread? Are we asking the mods to tell us why OG2 was banned? Or are we asking for clemency for OG2? I doubt either goal can be achieved. Oh well. Move on, nothing to see.

not certain what made the mods decide to ban him, when I could pull lots of research on this board of much worse,

he was a great guy as I have said in another thread, a class act and would give you much free medical help if asked,

a tremendous asset to this board , he may join another site I'm certain he will have a following

there is many that need to keep their heads up if OG2 can get banned for what I was told by him in private
the dude called him a mother f**ker then deleted it later, that's ok

That said, he did pursue the problems with suckme4ever a little too far. I found myself getting caught up with the same problem but let it go a little while ago. I decided to permanently refrain from ever commenting or responding to anything posted by suckme4ever. I am hoping that he will extend the same courtesy to me. We need the Mods to keep law and order or the board will not be the vibrant resource that it is. So all of that being said, if the Mod can see his way to making the ban something other than permanent, it would be good to see OG2 back as a member.
There is a thread that was pulled where OG2 is clearly out of control. Very far from the calm and collected person you guys are describing ..LOL
That said our view is that his suspension was warranted. Likewise suckme4ever's account is being reviewed.

It's impossible for me to speak to the validity of the banning, but I can say he was informative and enjoyable to read. Too bad there isn't some appeal possible--preminent seems harsh, if he truly was suckered into a on-line fight. Seems like we've lost a good old guyzeer.

You said "suspension" but Mod 100 said permanent. The two are different. OG2 told me his ban would be lifted "never" according to his login rejection notice. Does your statement imply the "ban" is now changed to a "suspension" only and will hence be lifted at some point?

I have no idea what thread was out of control but trust you used wise judgement in removing it, but surely one thread out of hundreds where useful information and comments were offered is not deemed worthy of a total ban. A warning, sure, but a ban with no notice seems a bit harsh.
