That's good - to me, that would be tacky.

I don't expect a lot but one time years ago (before I was an SP), I went on a date with a fairly wealthy man. When we went to the movies, I had to buy my own pop and popcorn. I don't want to sound greedy but it just really turned me off. He knew I didn't have much money and he had tons. Was that wrong of me to expect him to pay?

And then he expected sex at the end of the night which he did NOT get. lol
That kind of cheap I cannot stand. Nothing wrong with making smart purchases and save some money wherever you can though, living within your means is a good thing.

I watched a guy at work trying to get a quarter for 5 minutes that fell under an automatic door. I was just shocked and speechless.

Im not cheap. I just know what it was like to be poor. I didn't like it.
My family wasn't exactly well off. We had little in the way of luxury. My parents fought tooth and nail to make a better life for themselves, and eventually they succeeded.

But coming from that history, having to pay my own way through university by working nights and weekends, struggling with finances and debt, all the while watching those around me half-ass it because they were well off and didn't give a fuck, gave me a lot of respect for money. So much so that seeing someone spend exorbitantly sickens me far more than someone being cheap.

I don't think of myself as cheap. I tip well, despite hating the expectation of a gratuity. But I don't buy a whole lot. I save, invest, and only treat myself once in awhile. I find I've continued this practice even once my fortunes changed for the better five years ago. Old habits die hard.

I am pretty sure there are videos out there shot by people who would superglue a coin onto the floor and then video passerbys trying to pick it up.

LOL We did that once at a bar I used to work at. Glued a toonie to the floor and laughed at everybody who kept trying to pick it up. (It was a bar with a lot of regulars and we played a lot of pranks so we considered it harmless.) Most people realized it was a joke but a couple of sad people tried for ages to peel it off the floor.

Did the same thing outside of a bank. I watched from my office window as dozens of people attempted to pick it up. lol

How much did you compensate the bar for damaging their floor?

Somehow it's always a toonie, but I bet that there would be people working their ass off even if it was a quarter.
