Lets pretend he made the following comments to the arresting officers: " I hate the Christians"! "The Christians are responsible for all that is wrong in the world"! The Christians cause all the wars"!
The arrest for drunk driving would certainly make the news, but would his scathing condemnation of the Christians even get mentioned? Would the media be up in arms about this tragic attack on Christianity? Would the Hollywood actors and movie producers immediately call for the boycott of anything related to Mel Gibson?
And what about the poor Christians, who were so horribly victimized by these statements? Perhaps they would view the situation as someone who had too much to drink one night and said some foolish things? Maybe they would simply laugh it off and get on with their lives.
Considering the Bible thumping Christians have launched campains against Sponge Bob and Tele-Tubbies, I have no doubt that they would launch an anti-Mel campaign.
