WTF does Brad Lamb have an opinion piece in the paper?

Because he paid for it.

I wouldn’t trust anything that comes out of that guy’s mouth. His buildings are legendary for their cheap and shoddy construction behind the drywall and his business practices are predatory.

So...i guess just like trump? We’ve all seen how well trump has handled the Covid crisis.

Real estate sales pitch.

When prices are down it's a good time to buy because prices are down.

When prices are rising it's a good time to buy because prices are rising.

Hey I'm not saying lockdown within nations. Far from it. I'm thinking mid May announcements of rolling opening. Starting with things like dentists and clinics who have PPE on hand. Then some services like hairdressers with limited customers on site. No waiting etc.

But the borders need to stay shut down as much as possible right now to stop international spread. And most govt's are imo opinion going to do just that.

Cripes things are far from over. Storm seasons are coming up. The world is strained.

Take a breath. Govt's won't fall. Economies will survive. Really if they choose to they can just print money and the reset national debts when they chose to.
LOL! I hope you're right, I really am.

Huge number of unemployed, big debt, taxed to death, no savings! This is not going to be over soon a lot of jobs will be gone forever.

Like I said before the housing market is dead it just doesn't know it yet.

These cookie cutter shitholes or poor construction condos with a view of one of the worst lakes on the planet selling for large are dead and wont be coming back anytime soon.

Just give it a few months these idiots that think Toronto is a world class city and think housing will never go down are in for a awaking.

I partly agree with the previous poster. Toronoto is far from a world class city. It's a cleaner version of Chicago or Washington DC. In regional economics it's a gamma city at best and way way far from a London or Rome or New York.

Re housing.

I don't think it will fail. The government just won't let housing demand or housing consumption die or else this country is fucked. It's not an innovative country it lives off trade of resources and domestic demand. The market will prob lose 15 to 30 per cent of it's overvaluation but it will recover once immigration returns which won't be for a few years.

The casinos will lead the way in the recovery by financing check in tests at their hotels, aggressive housekeeping and universal temperature taking at all entrances. Needles to say, they will ruthlessly test their employees.
Not really, at least not for now as the plump older casino types who are gluttons at the all you can eat buffet are high risk for death by Covid-19.

In the grand scheme of things, doubtful. As long as the GTA brings in more people and there are plenty of rich foreign investors from everyone’s favourite scapegoat, housing will be the last to go because everyone needs a roof over their head.
Maybe the GTA though is in a good position. Especially with what your talking about.
I got an interesting letter this week. My mortgage payment went down 200+ per month.
I would suggest that most of you with mortgage payments check that out.

Who do you have your mortgage with?

Clearly, the Canadian health situation is better than the U.S. I just don't know how your economy will be slowed by a generalized American and global recession. Canada has some dependency on oil and commodity prices.

I take real estate data with a grain of salt. There are too many groups who have a vested in maintaining confidence. The industry will make it look like prices are holding even while sales volume vanishes. If you can ride it out, you will be fine. I suspect real estate will be very illiquid for most of the year.

key phrase at the end of that article is that buyer have moved to the sidelines. No bid means listings have to drop their prices to get bids. its getting scary in real estate. I've had several real estate agents tell me that they've got listings pleading find them buyers. I wish I could buy something today but my business closed down too and i'm treading water for the meantime. Some of these lucky working from home full salary guaranteed workers should be looking to get some deals.

Who is going to be flying into Vegas, domestic flights are down and no foreigners are allowed to come in ?
One thing is for sure, you can gamble with a mask on, but it's awfully difficult to eat with one on. My response is to your Vegas post above not a follow on to jcpro's buffet comment.

If people begin to make money again, where are they likely to spend their leisure money? Gambling might be more desirable to dining out. I bet the casinos do booming business in room service and casino-branded masks. I'd like to roll around town with my Hard Rock Casino, Venetian or Bellagio masks in Vegas or even back home.

Flying on a plane is gambling, with your life. You are breathing in recirculated air.

As per usual you are completely clueless. Yes some of the air is recirculated, but it goes through High-Efficiency Particle Filters (HEPA) so no bacteria or viruses pass through

https://www.tripsavvy.com/air-quality-during-your-flight-54164

A common myth about air travel is that if one person is sick on an airplane, all other passengers will get sick because they're breathing the same air, but thanks to air quality control onboard commercial airlines, this simply isn't true.

If you're planning to fly domestically or abroad, there are a few things you might want to know about the air quality you can expect during your flight. Airlines carriers are quick to say that the air you're breathing inflight is recirculated and filtered regularly, which means you're not being exposed to things like bacteria and viruses through the recycled air.

In fact, because of the high-efficiency filters on most commercial airlines and the frequency the air is recirculated and filtered, the air you're breathing on your flight is likely much cleaner and less contaminated than most office buildings and is on par with the air in most hospitals.

Most aircraft have robust filter systems. Except for some smaller or much older aircraft, airplanes are equipped with True High-Efficiency Particle Filters (True HEPA) or High-Efficiency Particle Filters (HEPA).

These filtration systems then filter and recirculate the air from the cabin and mix it with fresh air. The dirtier a HEPA filter gets, the more efficient it becomes, so it can easily handle the passenger load, even on larger jets.

Air recirculation also happens pretty quickly. The HEPA filtration system can make a complete air change approximately 15 to 30 times per hour, or once every two to four minutes. According to IATA, the International Air Transport Association, "HEPA filters are effective at capturing greater than 99 percent of the airborne microbes in the filtered air. Filtered, recirculated air provides higher cabin humidity levels and lower particulate levels than 100 percent outside air systems."
