Ontario reported 1,290 COVID-19 patients in its hospitals on Tuesday, an increase of 58 in just one day and a total that has shot up from 491 a week ago. ICU numbers were also on the rise, with 266 patients in intensive care units, up 18 from the day before. A week ago, there were 187 COVID-19 patients in Ontario’s ICUs.

But who really cares how many people get hospitalized? As the amigos (Kirk D, kyle, c-m, jcpro etc) keep telling us, the virus is mild, hardly anyone dies and we are overreacting.
Exactly at this point the number of cases is irrelevant. In Quebec there is no more pcr test for the population. Only self test. They move the testing healthcare staff to vaccination and/or treatment in the hospital.

Hardly anyone dies is true. Yet hospital are pushing away cancer and other type of surgeries and/or closing many units therefore that affects many patients who are not receiving care.

Units are filled with unvax at some point the healthcare force will just be fed up treating people they shouldn't.

There are 30k acute care beds in Ontario and over 3.5k critical care beds. Yeah, we're overwhelmed. I can't believe you people are buying.this shit. What will it take to return you people to reality so we can begin the salvage operation of our economy?

It occurs to me that every time at this time of year the ICU's are near capacity. Usually due to flu season.

Also in northern climates the incidences of hear attacks are up dramatically in the winter months.

Still would like to see a breakdown of those hospitalizations with covid that are incidental. Followed by a breakdown by age and co morbidities

Deaths should be categorized as with covid and because of covid.

In the end it's probable that budgets might have to be adjusted to increase ICU capacity and care. That's just the new reality.

I agree with most of what you said.

I'd be surprised if they are cancelling cancer surgeries. Maybe some none invasive skin cancers, but if it's a matter of life and death, they have to go in.

I think we will see it soon in Ontario. Other jurisdictions are starting to see the light like(gasp!) California. The causes of the Covid-19 mortality hasn't changed by much in the last two years. The vast majority of deaths are over 70 years old and usually with a couple of comorbidities. The only question remaining is will our "leaders" finally decouple themselves from their "experts" before our economy collapses?

Really. How many hospital beds are there in Canada per 1000? The French number(from France) is DOUBLE that of Canada. Germany has THREE times the number. Our ICU capacity is 25% of what you'll find in 🇺🇸. And only about 15% of the average EU standard. Furthermore, our ICUs run at over 90% occupancy and during the flu and cold season over 100%. Hence, the hallway medicine. We are sacrificing our people and the economy to protect the rotten system that cannot handle extra 1500 cases in a province of over 15.5 million.

If you say so. I just know that he loves trolling and he's usually on the wrong side of the argument.

And they are meaningless. The discussion is about unvaxxed covidiots occupying hospital beds. Dead people are not involved in that.

Please stay on topic instead of deflecting.

If you're spouting numbers, I'm assuming that they have been fudged by you. You are not trustworthy.
