Hobbying Worries

I hope you can offer me some guidance.

I just had a recent physical. Blood work came back fine-- WBCs, etc. I asked my GP to do an HIV test too as I am having a test done by my insurer too. I wanted to peace of mind because although physically I am fine, mentally I'm a wreck waiting for these HIV results.

My most riskiest hobbying involved BBBJs with several SPs on this board. My 'privates' have been clean-- no other STDs... ever. I've called a few of these girls to see if they get regular STD testing including HIV and they claim they do.

The anxiety is killing me. I won't participate in any BBBJ activity from now on because of how I am feeling mentally-- I can't handle this worrying.

Am I worrying WAYYY too much?

the more I think about it the worse I get.

I've been hobbying for approx 15 yrs. This is my first HIV test. I've only partaken in BBBJs for the last 3 yrs or so -- approx 8 SPs in that time frame, and I think most or all were positively reviewed on this board so I felt confident going into the encounter.

HIV needs blood to blood contact. So there really would have to be open sore etc. on your privates along with Sp having some kind of open sore in mouth lips’ you getting idea.
HIV biggest transfer of course dirty needles then unprotected sex that involves penetration basically because more tearing and membranes etc. involved. Anal high on the list if unprotected.
I test regularly. Like monthly and have policy with my ladies that min bi monthly must provide test results.

Now go follow DR KNOW'S advice. RELAX and have second coctail for me.

given my hobbying habits, it would be a medical 'anti-miracle' if I were to have acquired the virus. I have had no open sores of any kind, as mentioned earlier I have never contracted any STD. My other blood profile factors are fine and I feel great physically. I don't recall ever feeling any post-encounter illness that can be found post-infection.

I think I've just been involved in activities that involve more risk than I am willing to accept, and now I'm worrying the hell over it.

on your girlfriend
I have no doubt the test results will come back negative.

File this under lessons learned. Only partake in sexual situations you feel comfortable with. If that means a CBJ fron now on to ease your mind, stick with it so you can avoid the worry in the future.

yet another reason I love the Hassle Free Clinic downtown.

http://www.hasslefreeclinic.org/

Instant, free, on the spot test results that are something like 98% effective. No waiting games or stress. just be sure to check when the mens clinic hours are.
Great link, what kind of test is it?

Chill

In someways you have to work hard to expose yourself to HIV. The transmission rate is far, far lower female to male than it is male to female. Did you have open sores, did she have open sores did you get the open sores next to each other and so forth. I didn't think so, I think you merely have the normal fear of the unknown.

All it takes is the smallest of cuts, sores or nic's to get it. Not worth the risk. CBJ only for me.

You don't have HIV, I guarantee it.

You should be more concerned about Herpes or HPV.
Unfortunately, at least according to my physician, they can't test for HPV in men. However, I agree that it is a very serious and under reported health issue. Believe me the feeling you have when someone you care about tells you they have Cervical Dysplasia is not something I care to repeat (even though I wasn’t responsible).

Thanks for the reassurance.

Quite often we men think with the little man's head before the upper brain takes over. I never walked out of a session feeling that this situation was risky -- my skin was clear after the BBBJ and the SP was someone that was positively reviewed on TERB. There was no condom failure in any encounter.. but I sure think differently about BBBJs now.

You are right... I should be more concerned about HSV and HPV... that has not been an issue... thankfully.

As for your guarantee... I'm sure you are right but I have to get over my worry-wart mentality.

Relax, your odds of getting HIV from a BBBJ are about 1 in 300 million. (You have better odds of getting stung to death by bees.)

Your odds of getting cancer in your life and dying prematurely 1 in 2.

If you're going to lay up awake at night worrying, you should be at least worrying about what is probably going to kill you (cancer) way before your time and not something that you have no chance of dying from (AIDS).

Just saying is all.

BTW, you really need to reconsider this whole sex thing.

BTW, Hassle Free does rapid HIV testing and you get the results in about 2 minutes while you are in the room. 1 bubble you are fine, 2 bubbles - you need to adjust your lifestyle.

To also put it in perspective for you, when you phone HF, they ask you when your last unprotected intercourse was. (Note, that's intercourse, not BBBJ) and if it was less than 3 months ago, they tell you to wait.) They also ask you how long it's been since your last AIDS test and if it's less than 2 years and you have not been receiving unsafe BB anal, or sharing needles - they tell you to wait 2 years.

Seriously.

Too many little straight kids coming in every couple of months every time they want to have BB sex with a new partner and they want their BB OK card. Fucks it up for the people who really need the service.

Anyway, when it comes to HIV testing, there is 2 things they ask you.

1. When was you last unprotected intercourse? If it's less than 3 months, you have to wait till the 3 months are up, otherwise, the results are not accurate.

2. When was your last HIV test? If it was within the last 2 years, and you have not been engaging in any "high risk" behaviour - male male anal sex, sharing needles, then you should wait 2 years because you are needlessly testing.

From what the people there tell me, they are bombarded by people getting "over tested". People starting another relationship being the main one. It's become a real issue for them and they are swamped to the point that they can not deliver the services to higher risk crowd due to lack of time and resources.

If you're a straight male, and you're doing your third test this year because you're onto your third new girlfriend, they are going to tell you to take a hike.

Believe me, or believe the link:

I don\'t know if this is the right place to ask, but I\'m wondering besides HIV, are there many other STDs that are considered uncurable and lethal?

Or are there shots/pills for most every other STD now?

A little off topic, but apparently I have to have an 'examination' for insurance purposes (term life policy). Not sure if this entails blood work or is it blood pressure and urine analysis...apparently the nurse is coming to my house in a week or so. Does anyone happen to know what the insurance 'examination' consists of?

Oh, and I am quite certain you are worrying for nothing. I did a lot of reading re: oral sex and transmission of HIV, it is very, very, very unlikely.

I'm in the same boat ie. going for an insurance policy renewal too. As far as I know, mine will involve an HIV test and blood profile, and blood pressure.

What you have is anxiety. I am not a physician but I've done my research. AFAIK there are no known cases of getting HIV from a blowjob. It is only a theoretical possibility and even so I believe the woman's mouth would have to be gushing in blood.

This is a great turning point for you to get out of the hobby permanently, with your dick and your sanity intact.
I have thought seriously of getting out the hobby for approximately 2 yrs but it's been sooo difficult with all the great ladies out there. But based on my current reactions, I doubt it's worthwhile for me to continue. We shall see, but this may be a good time to exit...
