If you are disciplined about clearing the phone after using it just leave it in your glove compartment as a roadside emergency phone. That way if your SO ever sees you with it you can just say you were charging it, fixing it, testing it, etc.
If you don't want to go to all that trouble just keep it at the office.
I have always been using the Fongo (Formerly Dell voice) app for calling anyone I don't want to give away my number. This app is available for all smartphone platforms: iOS, Android and BB. Even you can install this one in your computer. The calling is free but texting you have to buy for $2/month. One bad thing sometime this app doesn't work if you are out and the LTE connection is bad for example in a crowded place where the all the LTE channels have been exhausted. Best bet then go to timmys and use their wifi or move to a less crowded place.
Or the other app is textme2 app. This was a text only app but lately they are giving incoming voice for free. For voice you can get some credits by some of their promotions they post inside the app or you can always buy them.

If you want a physical phone, 711 used to be the way to go. Years ago I bought a phone for $100, came with a $50 airtime credit. You have to top it up every 6 months, so it's $40 a year. But they didn't take any personal info down when I bought it and I walked out with a fully activated phone. If you pay cash, it can't be traced back to you. Plus it's cheap enough that you could trash it and walk away from it if you absolutely had to.
Keep it in your car, well hidden (in the trunk tucked away works for me). Apps etc. are good but I like having a phone.
I almost forgot, I bought a car charger ($20) so when I use it I just plug it in run it off the charger. Otherwise, it's never charged so you don't worry about it ringing at inappropriate times.

Or you can password protect it.
That way if the SO finds it and demands to know why you have a second phone you can say you just found it lying somewhere and was tying to figure out how to get into it before the battery goes dead.....:eyebrows:

If you keep the numbers in the phone, just code the names.
For example, Allure becomes Al Rogers.
Then transpose the last 2 numbers of the phone number, so 905-555-1234 (say) is saved as 905-555-1243.
Double protection.
Make sure if you do use the phone that you clear the history.

Can be dangerous though; password protected phones will always raise suspicion - and she may or may not buy.
