Turner Broadcasting System and Interference Inc. (the marketing agency)
yesterday agreed to pay $2 million U.S. in compenstation for last week's bomb scare in Boston.
And there you have it: what was likely the plan from day one. Spend a cheap ass amount of money on a guerilla marketing campaign; cause a terrorist reaction that will get national and international coverage (note they are still investigating how 4 tips came in near simultaneously for 4 different locations in Boston on that day and were suspecting conspiracy until this deal); pay out large sum of money that is about what a marketing campaign would cost anyways while pinning most of the blame on two dumb artists and looking to be concerned and acountable corporate citizens.

Almost textbook, I'd say.

But hey, it is always so much easier to sit back after the fact and accuse them of being unhip. (I guess someone needs to develop a "hipness" test so that police forces across North America can incorporate it into their candidate screening processes!)

Hindsight is always 20/20.

I don't totally disagree that hindsight is 20/20 but cops need common sense , does anyone think terrorists would be so obvious.
Should every forgotten suitcase or purse on the TTC be treated as a bomb ?. Terbites speak?

For an answer try doing this at Pearson or the Bloor-Yonge Station, the rest of will watch the answer on the National.

p.s. I do not suggest attempting this

Just hitting the news wires. Surveillance camera tapes show Peter Berdovsky, one of the two men charged in the Boston Bomb scare videotaped the Boston Bomb Squad removing one of the "advertisements" he had placed, however, he never contacted any L.E. agency to inform them what the objects were. His lawyer is quoted as saying "Berdovsky didn't do anything inappropriate. . .he went back to his apartment and called his employer, and they told him they would take care of it. That's not an inappropriate response." (Which I suppose will be a matter for a court to decide).

Well people do forget purses , bags etc on the TTC all the time I just wonder if we Canadians treat them all as bombs, they could be more likely than those stupid cartoon characters.

Heaven, definately Heaven
I don't know why Turner Broadcasting is paying Boston $2 million. Boston should get only a half a nickel. I wouldn't be surprised if more cities start doing the same for a payday. There's $12 billion in Iraq, why don't they just get that? Or maybe freeze Katie Couric's bank account.
