I still can't understand how the hippies from the 60s morphed into today's Republicans in the great USA.
From a proud hippy from that generation.
Nah, for the most part they were the ones on the sidelines. They didn't get the girls, they were the wallflowers in the classroom, they were in the grey mass that watched as we danced, played sports and lived. Their admiration of our lifestyle turned to bitter resentment and an urge to repress everyone else's freedoms. Bitter, old fashion, resistant to change - these aren't the people you see in the photos.

I agree with your father (except sending you to your room)The hippies I knew when Woodstock happened were silly flakes or stoned bums with low IQs.

Some intellectuals influenced by the Sixties (Tim Leary for eg) made significant social changes in educating the great unwashed about truth of drugs and war but they were the great minority

There was also a failed attempt at communalism but that is a recurring failure throughout history. Such movements inevitably collapse whether their source is driven by religion fevor or spiritual naivity.
Yeah, I read about communalism. The snowflakes of that time discovered some unexpected things like seasons, hunger, benefits of modern medicine and the need for discipline in order to survive. I busted a gut reading it.

Bushy pussy ...more smell. I was watching some ballerinas at the CNE, one lifted her leg and she had hair even in her inner thighs..I can imagine the rest. I'm not a fan..I like eating bald ..soft..moist pussy.

A ballerina sporting a bush? Instant boner for me! Who woulda thought you could sport wood watching ballet?

While I don't mind the original "hippie chicks", I'm not into the present day, carefully contrived look. Your picture looks to be exactly that, as is this one;

While I sort of agree, I must say I would not turn away the carefully contrived hippy hotties either. But certainly a genuine bushy one would grab my attention first.

I couldn't believe it LOL...she was really nice and danced with a big smile on her face...they were something in between dancers and ballerinas, they didn't have a tutu like classic ballerinas..but most guys looking were hypnotized.

Here and there
Ah, Woodstock. It created Hippie chicks. That and Neil Young., Hendrix, Santana , Havens ... a lot of artists turned down a festival in a cow pasture , Dylan never showed

Was anyone there?

I was 16, living down south of Windsor and was invited to join some older friends. Turned it down when I was told how far away it was. Many of the acts I had seen or could see at Pine Knob in Michigan. Who knew? It was before Woodstock became WOODSTOCK! Asked the guys their impressions when they came back and they said it sucked. They were too far away and the weather was shitty. Today, of course, they all say it was the time of their lives. Ah well. My one life do over...

All I know about it is the movie, which is a highlight film. I could definitely see the POV of your friends. Place is over crowded and unprepared and you are a mile away from stage then it rains .

A lot of bands turned Woodstock down thinking it was a bad idea. Some bands refused to be filmed unless they were paid so they never got into the movie as people were getting in for free and the organizers were broke and no one was getting paid so some bands performed not knowing if they would get paid while others refused.

Whatever band was ready went on. It was chaos and the film is so edited it does not truely represent the experience of being there which could easily mean being wet just wanting to go home but you can't because the freeway is a parking lot so you are stuck for three days eating army slop and putting up with slobs and stoners and waiting in line for the smelly outhouse wishing you never came.

I suspect the beauty of Woodstock is generated hype.

I would go if transported back in time but when I think of those car lineups just to sleep in the mud....

They were only expecting about 60,000 to 70,000 people to show up not the 400,000 plus that did. If it hadn't rained it would have made for a better time for sure but from the movie everyone made the best of it.

...how do you know all this stuff? It wasn't in the movie that you say comprises your entire knowledge of Woodstock.

Well, I just use my imagination.

The Woodstock film makers were trying to make a film that sells to pay their bills, it was not a documentary

We have one TERB stating his friends went and never enjoyed themselves.

Any first hand knowledge of the original Woodstick festival would be appreciated.
