I just came back from up north I was so pissed off. I have a cheap cooler I didn't have a fridge. Used this cooler all week I must of gone through fifty bucks of ice.

It would melt by the end of the day.

All my food would be swimming in warm water the next day morning.

Buy more ice same thing. It was fucked!

Anyways I was looking at a yeti or pelican does anyone have one do they hold ice in really warm weather for days?

There like 500$ though not cheap.

There are some pretty cool hacks on YouTube. From what I gather, the kid is the culprit. It’s not insulated...and most of the videos include drilling a few holes to the inside of the lid and then shooting some spray foam inside.

I have a 20 year old Coleman cooler, just like the one in the vid. A 10-20 pound bag of ice will last for 2-3 days.

Electric coolers, using a peltier junction and a fan is what we used to use for road trips, worked fine.

not a cooler but an insulated water bottle:

greatest water bottle I’ve ever owned. Tough as hell and I’ve been prospecting in Alberta in the blazing sun in the badlands and it will hold ice all day and into the next day.

I didn’t believe it until I tried it. Now I’m a convert.

It’s such a strong steel bottle that I used one as a hammer to drift out a seized trailer pin once. Banged it up pretty goid but it got the job done when my tools were all the way back in drumheller.

Go electric. Look up what they are using on boats and camper vans now. You can use them on your patio, and even as an extra freezer full time.

I have had a few of those and they didn't last me. The motor cut out.

They were Coleman

Many Coleman items don’t last long, unless they have a lifetime warrantee, like their camp stoves. Motors can be replaced. Mine needed a motor after a few years, and I was able to do it myself for a small sum. My cooler was NOT a Coleman, however.

Nope, they aren't.
But they've done a good enough job of marketing themselves that there are people willing to pay for overpriced cups and coolers.

Just checked out the hacks. I'm surprised I never thought of it myself!

Yeti's are amazing. I used to work at a place that sold them. Never had any negative feedback, just extremely positive. Particularly if your concerned about bears.
