Last year over $2000 damage to my property from racoons.
First they or it tried to tear into my attic and I had to replace the shingles.
Second they bit into the gas hose to my barbecue and actually caused a gas leak which we discovered after 2 weeks.

Just saying...................

someone's been watching TeamWild hunts on YouTube. lol.

I've been thinking about an air gun for plinking. I'm sure they would be fine for rats. I'm no so sure they would enough to take out the 20lb bastards in my neighbourhood.

Great bear - that's a serious firearms offence you're counselling there. ;)

Don't laugh but I bought a sling shot from Bass Pro (better than the one I got as a kid), complete with steel pellets. Haven't used it though. Not for raccoons but for deer getting too close to mom's vegetable garden, but a new fence seems to have solved the problem.

I thought I saw it at Sail at the Sherway location.. Not 100% sure
Sorry, why would deer urine work?

Also, does Sail sell coyote pee (to deter deer from eating mom's flowers and staying away from her vegetables, including other varmints like ground hogs or gophers)

Water!! Water your lawn excessively the grubs eat the roots of the grass the water keeps the grubs below the roots they go lower to avoid it ( the water)

Lol, as if

I think Raccoons are territorial, kinda like dogs, so if they smell fermones in pee from other more threatening animals they stay away...at least this is how I think it works. Not an expert on animal pee whatsoever :|

Maybe the hunter guys can help with this one...

saw it on a house flipping show. just zip down your fly and pee around the yard. you dont need to get coyote pee or deer pee or any fancy animal pee. your own pee works just as fine. they can smell it. your pee gives off a scent and they can smell that scent. it works just as good as deer peer or bear pee or coyote pee or fox pee. its all the same. any pee from any animal gives off a territorial scent. the guy on the house flipping show just told his carpenters and ironworkers and sheetworkers to go out into the yard and pee around the yard to put out their scent all along the property so that a family of raccoons would stay away from his property.

this trick also works on every other animal like cats, possums...etc.

On the road with Willy
4x4 sheet of tin. Big blob of peanut butter in the middle. Connect to an electrical current.
Wait for them to show up and throw the switch.
Let the fun begin.:thumb:
Not responsible for any fires and or injuries. I just mentioned it, you went and did it.

True enough.

You might at least mention how not to short out the circuit and blow the breaker. But then, you're not a responsible adult are you?

This past late winter/early spring, for a two week period, I had to go on my roof every day to repair spots on my roof where the raccoon bastards tried to get into my attic. My biggest issue, is with the neighbour behind me. He has about two feet of debris from all the trees in his yard, sitting on the ground, and all the animals, skunks, raccoons, squirrels and possums, are in there. It is also becoming like a marsh now, and I cannot sit in my backyard at night because I get eaten alive by the mosquitoes. I am basically left with no choice but to go to the city to force him to clean up his mess. As for the raccoons, I have to do something to get rid of them, because I cannot have my roof torn up again. I have tried the cayenne/chili peppers mixed with vaseline and put all over the downspouts and eavestrough. I am thinking of setting at trap up now, even though I know you are not allowed to.

I tried all sorts of fox urine which you can get in any store with hunting supplies. It did not deter the racoons.

I was initially surprised to read here that you saw opossums in Toronto, as I didn't believe their range extended into Canada (I've always believed opossums' range was limited to the southern US), at least until I saw the following article in Wikipedia.
