You will need the following:

1)Three-ring binder with college-ruled notepaper
2)Pens and pencils, erasers
3)Highlighters
4)Calculator
5)Backpack
6)Schedule book with calendar

There may be more, but you will know once the course starts, but for now that is enough.

Good luck with your class and have fun!

Take a nice shiny apple for your teacher! On second thought - save the apple, you'll be teacher's pet without it!!

GOOD LUCK with your studies!!!!!!!!!!

Don't forget to bring your Pot!

You will need this between second and third Period.

Warning: Do not use after lunch...you will only get hungry again.

If you are a fast typer you wont need anything else.

Also many colleges are equipped with wireless so you can surf the net in class.

A good Canadian English Dictionary - backpack sized.

Decent quality computer disks & holder (most stuff is done on computers & there is nothing worse than trying to open a file and the disk is f**ked)

Get your calendar/organizer from your school - they are cheesy, but have all the important school dates and stuff in there. Plus they always have great coupons, discounts and assorted fun stuff.

Don't get a tonne of binders, unless you are a super organized person. Get one or two huge ones and use dividers.

Also when you get your book list - try to get second hand/used books...many are only used for one class but cost a small fortune (especially electives).

If you are a shitty notetaker (like me) a tape recorder helps with the long winded profs :)

Sab.

Good luck sweetie!!

Trolling the Deleted Threads Repository
Everything Shinyam said plus a clipboard.

Take your notes on 3-hole punched, lined paper. A couple of colours to your pens wouldn't hurt, but depending on the lecturer you may not have time to switch colours and still keep up. In some courses I used to write blue with my right hand & red with my left.

Review your notes shortly after class (same day) otherwise you'll forget the stuff you didn't have time to write down.

good luck wth your studies.

take the basics: a binder with looseleaf, a couple of pens and penciles, eraser, white out and maybe a small ruler. everything else is a burden to carry and worry about.

unless requred, a laptop would only act to distract you from class (solitaire and surfin'). i wouldn't wanna carry it around and worry if about power.

I usually just carry a binder, calculator and a pen around. Don't really need much more than that for lectures. Oh yeah, I also carry some trojan condoms in my wallet.

How will I recognize you in my classes? :)

Here's what I see most students carrying:

Knapsack is the bag of choice these days - they do wonders for the thrust of these young women's breasts!
notepaper - I don't see make using notebooks
something to put the notes in temporarily, like a folder or small binder,
writing instruments
a calculator

Take your text books with you, unless it is clear that the prof will not be referring to them. Do your reading before going to class.

xarir's suggestion about doing review and revision to the notes shortly after class is an excellent one. When you tale notes in class, leave space for these additions.

A lot of students use notebook computers. Some a good at taking notes. Some just use them to surf or message each other in class.

Good luck with the studies.

BTW, for tutoring, I charge $300/hour, plus $250 for each additional hour.

Yeah bring a back pack with you since it helps to carry your books.

I'm not sure if you need to bring your own combination lock or if they provide one for you, but you'll find that out during your orintation (sp?) on the first day of school.

Oh, and lastly spare change for a coffee or snack during the break in class, which usually run approx 10mins during a 3-4hr session.

One last thing, be sure to enjoy your time there it's a great life.

I wish I was back there.....*sigh* The girls :)

Crap ... it's that time of the year again. I bring;

a. something to write with, pen and pencil;
b. eraser;
c. calculator;
d. something to write on (other than my hand) ... paper;
e. one binder ... is usually good enough to start with. Just have some dividers for each class of that day. No need to carry around other days work especially at the beginning of the year.
f. timetable ... and maybe a map of the college if it is large;
g. entertainment for the day ... mp3 player or book.

h. laptop and pda's are optional.

Dump all into one backpack and you're ready to go. Oh ... don't forget wallet, car keys, cellphone, left shoe.
