War in Ukraine, war in the gulf, war in Africa blockade of Cuba. All we need its an explosion in Asia, we already had a few sparks like Thailand V Cambodia. There are credible rumors that British jets in Romania shot down Russian drones in Ukraine. Things are getting very sporty as the empire tries to reassert itself.
By this assumption, it happened in the 2000's between Afghanistan, Iraq, and whatever other regional wars popped up and down.
I think a world war definition means large aligned interests going at eachother. With WW1 and WW2 had that dynamic. Right now the Ukraine war is a proxy war, similar to cold war actions. Iran is having a larger world affect due to the Strait, but in reality its been an economic war as much as anything. Israel is always at war now.
Thailand/Cambodia is really a border placement dispute over some temples, that flares up occasionally. I'm sure there are a few in Africa as well.
Basically where there is some interconnectivity its not anywhere near multinational battle lines.
So no. But the Strait is going to cause further economic woes. The greater immediate threat imo is a migrant crisis worse than the late 2000's one. If the gulf infrastructure gets really fucked up its going to get pretty bad in many parts.
