just wondering what peoples opinions are on buying tires from there.

I wanted to know about their road hazard guarantee.
also, I remember reading something about them inflating tires with something other than compressed air(nitrogen?) and how much of a scam it was.

are their prices good , or would I be better off going to a tire shop.

someone recommended Gis Laved tires , any good? I don`t think cosco carries them , though.

I found the thread, and it seems the general consensus is that its not worth it.

Costco offers a nitrogen fill, instead of the usual compressed air. My research suggests that the extra cost is not worth it. The benefits are negligible, but that's just what I've heard. I don't have any more details or experience with it.
If you continually check and maintain tire pressure, you're correct, the benefits are negligible.

Most people however, fail to maintain proper tire pressure. This can have a significant impact on fuel consumption. Considering fuel costs, these drivers (most) may find a substantial benefit to nitrogen filled tires.

Michelin's are fine. My preferred tire is Bridgestone Blizzak; it comes in several models depending on the vehicle.

Available at Green & Ross, I think. But for sure at OK Tire on Garyray Rd. in Weston.

There you go.

Costco only carries Michelin X-Ice. They are great tires (they proved their worth this weekend!). Compared to other snows I've run, the X-Ice's are much quieter and offer very good ice and snow traction. Wet handling is average.

Costco prices are pretty good, especially with the $25/off on each tire now. On a mounted/installed basis, the price is at least as good (and probably lower) as your local tire shop. Keep in mind that there is also a lifetime rotation and inspection service if you buy at Costco. That's worth a few bux.

Gislaved snows are even better, according to several reviews that I researched. Unfortunately, they are hard to find in TO (I think Steelcase Tires'N'Mags offers them, but they are such a busy shop.)
thanks for the replies guys.

how do I get the $25 off, do I need some sort of rebate ticket or coupon ? how long is this going on?
