A few years ago they showed a broadcast from before Gretzky entered the NHL and they said Gretzky "could make as much as $50,000 per year" when he made the league, LOL.
Soon after he retired, he said in an interview, that he could not start in the NHL today (when he retired). He said when he began, players were either fast, or large. Now they are both.
Gretzky stuck a dagger in the heart of every Leafs fan back in 1993. First with the high stick non call. Then the OT goal in game 6 .And finally the hat trick and 4 point night in game 7 of the conference finals. We would have sipped from Lord Stanley if it weren't for him. Grrr.

Happy bd great one! Got the nickname Wayne when I played house league in grade school just fell a little short of his reputation when I started playing junior B...ok a lot
Wayne Gretzky and wife Janet created this mansion, sold it, bought it again, and are now selling it for a second time. It's on the market for $22,900,000.
I remember watching a made for tv golf broadcast from Sherwood back in the early 2000's. Might have been Tiger vs Duval or a skins match, can't remember but I do remember them showing Gretzky's mansion. But what I remember more is they also showed his neighbor's house and the owner was on the deck watching the golf. It was Claude Lemieux, very good clutch player but is always on the list of most hated NHL players of all time. Thought it was ironic that the greatest of all time and one of the most hated of all time lived next door to each other.
