Do your bench press in a squat cage, set the safety pins just below your chest. Problem solved. Now that may p*ss people off waiting for the squat rack, so this assumes that there is more than one squat cage in the gym.
My pet peeves for any commercial gym: limited squat racks, chalk not allowed, chains not allowed, dropping after deadlift not allowed, no bumper plates. Also people (with trainers) doing partial range bench press and 1/4 to 1/2 squats, never getting to bench full range or hips below the knees on the squat (believing the lie that it might hurt the knees).
