Gym pet peeves

If I rejoined a gym I would hurt my back again. Guaranteed.

I would do the light weights then get bored and after a while I would move onto heavier weights because they are handy then ZING. "HEY Why u walkin' so funny Frankenstein?"
this must be a joke. how could you doing something stupid and injuring yourself be a pet peeve?

what ticks me off is when the person before me on the machine doesn't wipe it off after they are drenched in sweat. please wipe !

I think they listed all the reasons why I stopped going to big gyms! I just use hotel gyms for work outs now :)

Being hit on while on treadmill and listen to my ipod is the most annoying. Like come on guys! A girl with earphones means she doesn't want to be disturbed... is that too hard to understand?

Some issues I have encountered since heading back to the gym this year:

Members who use multiple pairs of free weights, but leave them on the floor beside the benches. They know how to take the weights but they don't care to put them back on the rack.

Members who would load up a machine with a dozen 45lb plates, and then not put them back when finished with the machine. It is a lot of work to remove these plates, and they shouldn't leave it for someone else to put away.

Members who make a mess by throwing paper towels all over the place and not throwing them in the garbage can. They also leave empty water bottles all over the place for someone else to clean up.

Members who smell bad. I dunno why, but certain ethnic groups are not wearing deodorant and smell really bad. There has already been a few times when I had to leave due to the awful smell. I just couldn't deal with that smell, yuk!

Women masturbating in the steam room. I know it may sound nice...but really I am not there to see you that.
Clump of hair in the shower at the gym.

I was in my local gym's sauna when an old guy comes in and starts doing stretches. Nothing like seeing some guys taint and saggy scrotum while trying to relax after a workout :(

Do your bench press in a squat cage, set the safety pins just below your chest. Problem solved. Now that may p*ss people off waiting for the squat rack, so this assumes that there is more than one squat cage in the gym.

My pet peeves for any commercial gym: limited squat racks, chalk not allowed, chains not allowed, dropping after deadlift not allowed, no bumper plates. Also people (with trainers) doing partial range bench press and 1/4 to 1/2 squats, never getting to bench full range or hips below the knees on the squat (believing the lie that it might hurt the knees).

Sorry but I do shrugs on the rack.
That's where you are supposed to do them. It is a little tough to do heavy shrugs if you have to deadlift the bar first and benches are too high to re-rack it after a tough set. But the rack, being adjustable, is perfect.

Old farts who shower in their underwear and then hog the hair dryer trying to dry them up afterwards...this is seriously fucked up, no wonder the hair dryers keep breaking down. It got so bad at one point that I needed to by a mini one I could fit into my bag. Those fucking dbags but you don't wanna mess with them b/c of their age.

Also stupid guy bitches that spray essential oils in the steam room making in unbearable to stay any longer. Also when they keep spraying cold water in the sensor and make the place burning hot. Usually the same dbag would do this and did I mention he's one of those dbags that prances around the gym naked for like 15mins. Worst part is when your locker is right next to his.

I hate when someone with a taste for "sounds of nature" or the 1950's country music channel monopolizes the friggin TV to play these audio stations.

One reason to bring your headphone and music. The gym I got to, has all of the audio on the TV's routed to little boxes on each piece of cardio equipment, so you can choose what audio you want to listen to by plugging in your own headphones.

my thought is that you should be shrugging much more weight than you can deadlift. so the rack is the right place.

Your suggesting shrugs of way more than that??? LOL...
If you wanna do shrugs....right...use dumbells...most good gyms will have 120 to 150 lb'ers for the serious lifter...

Your traps are among the strongest muscles in your body. So for most shrugging with 2 150 pound dumbbells would be too light after a relatively short amount of time.
