Pound for pound, Jonathan was the best fighter of all time!
He was bigger than SJ but in no way huge, but John Ferguson was the toughest guy I ever saw fight. Rarely lost.

Did you see Ferguson fight?

He was a bit before my time, he retired before I followed hockey seriously, I'll take your word for it.

I'm a Robinson fan, but the Leaf's Dave Hutchison beat the crap out of him in a pre season game, unfortunately, no video/film exists of it, only a picture.

At one point, the Leafs had 3 of the toughest enforcers in the league- Dave Hutchison, Dan Maloney and Tiger Williams

Remember this brawl? Leafs and Flames

Loved it when Turnbull jumps over the boards and starts landing punches at will!!!!!

Bobby Hull was also a bit before my time, and he was strong as a bull, as there is a famous pic of him shirtless balng hay in off season, but what was his reputation as a fighter?

I remember that pic.

He was my favourite non-Leaf. Very strong and could hold his own physically but was not known as a fighter, per se.

Les Habs could throw out Lambert, Tremblay and Risebrough as their 3rd line on any given night and give the opposition fits.

Bouchard was tough for sure but I'll never forget Stan Jonathan besting him in a playoff game at the gardens. As a Hab fan growing up that was hard to watch. Not to mention Lupien was getting thrashed at the same time. The Bruins were a really good team in those days. I was thought Dryden was the difference maker between the two teams in the end.
Was that the same Habs team that played the visiting Russians to a 3-3 draw?

Tough as nails, he was feared, he took care of his mates.
And he could score too.

Yup, that was the greatest game I ever saw, Cournoyer and Lemaire were skating circles around Red Army.

Unfortunately Dryden sucked that night, he only faced 13 shots on goal and allowed 3.

Yeah Dryden sucked in that game. Guess he was too big which was great for stopping North American style long shots but a bit slow for the Red Army play making in front of the grease. He had to get used to the Russian style lol.

He was only 5'9" but tough as hell with those iron fists lol.
Didn't sound right, so I looked it up. 6'0", 178lbs.

Oh thanks for correcting my mistake there shack (Your first name Eddie?)!
As kids we used to take the identity of the Leaf whose number matched our birthday number. I was born on the 23rd so I was Shack.

That's funny.
BTW, Shack was Ferguson's biggest nemesis. Shack was a tough dude too although not as ornery.

John Ferguson was before my time but he was an urban legend in Montreal.

Apparently, there was one playoff series involving the big bad Bruins. As soon as the puck was dropped in game one, JF engaged in a fight with the toughest Bruin, Ted Green, and beat the crap out of him. Yes, Montreal won the series.

BTW: Fergie was more than just an enforcer, he was also an offensive threat as well.
