What kind of compromise if all it is doing is taking out some innocent lives in this day and age?
The AR-15's only difference from the M-16 is that the latter is an automatic as compared to the AR-15 being a semi-automatic. They have almost identical capabilities, however, it is still legal in some states to own the AR16, although they have some restrictions with relation to owning them. These are the true facts. However they then cross the State border lines illegally to end up anywhere in the USA!!
AR- 15 is just a sporting rifle and even not that particularly powerful. The reason you're talking about it it's because it is the most popular semi auto rifle in America. There are many other that are just as capable and lot more powerful rifles than AR-15. In any case, the vast majority of gun crimes are committed with handguns in US.
Did you know that a user can modify an AR-15 to function as an automatic weapon, using a device called the "bump stock"?
Though they were made illegal, the Courts put a hold on them as they considered that decision to be "Unconstitutional"!!
The Bump Stock was used in the mass shooting in Las Vegas causing numerous deaths and injuries.
Also, automatic weapons manufactured prior to 1986 are legal to own provided there is a fee paid and it conforms to certain criteria various states!!

Expert on what? I came up on Mauser, Mosin Nagant, SKS and AK-47 in the old country. In the Canadian military I carried C7 and C9 and FN in the very beginning and used MP-5 a few times. Although I don't own anything major, I'm comfortable with firearms and know how to use them regardless of type and purpose. Fully automatic weapons are a lot of fun, if they're small size and caliber. . Full size rifles and machine guns on full auto is fucking serious work and carrying the ammo is a bitch.

You must not be aware that converting a firearm to full auto is already illegal.
Bump stocks are a gimmick, most shooters don't care whether or not they are legal; they probably actually saved lives in Vegas.
Almost ALL semi automatics can be upgraded to full auto by a semi skilled gunsmith. Did the trans killer use a fully auto weapon? Oh, btw. I don't give a flying fuck what you believe or not.

More reason than to have far more restrictions on Gun Laws as they are getting more and more dangerous and in a place like the USA over 45,000 lives were lost in 2022 just from guns related deaths!!

Ironically, when they switched from 7.62 NATO to 5.56, one of the "selling points " was that the 5.56 would cause more wounds than outright kills which would cause greater confusion and expansion of resources by the gentlemen opposite.
