A scrabble board or grill isn't a symbol of freedom. a gun and a flag are. If they think their constitutional rights are being threatened out come the flags and the guns. " Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is what it comes down to. Americans don't like being told what to do.
This is where the insanity comes in. I can somehow see a flag being a symbol of a country's constitution, but a gun is just a gun, and a symbol of intimidation.

To me and I think to the majority of people, a gun is not a symbol of democracy and freedom, actually it is a symbol of the opposite.

Seriously, I cannot believe that you agree with Mao: "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun". Do you think he had democracy in mind?

They aren't smart enough for that.

Actually it was intimidation at best and at worst to use in case someone didn't like their protest. I think one of those idiots killed a Dollar Store employee for telling them they had to wear a mask in, you guessed it, MICHIGAN.

Well they sure "triggered" that pussy. I guess that is what you meant. You and your idiotic glib excuses. Get real for once.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...ause-he-wouldnt-let-woman-store-without-mask/

A Family Dollar store security guard who was killed in Flint, Mich., on Friday was shot after telling a customer that her child had to wear a face mask to enter the store, the county prosecutor’s office said Monday.

You'll probably say he deserved it because he was infringing on their rights.
Clearly they were smart enough, look at this thread.

And smart enough to kill the dollar Store guy. Is that the kind of smart you admire from your fellow crazy americans?

America is not a democracy. It's a constitutional republic that clearly spells out what the government may not do. Like infringing on its citizens rights to free assembly, free speech and, yes, keeping deadly weapons for pleasure, defence or no reason at all.
If you want to pick nits instead of addressing my comment...

Showing up armed to protest the government is overtly anti-democratic. At least when the NRA protests gun bills, the guns had relevance to the issue.

A flag I can get as a symbol. A gun is simply a threat.

Actually, it's completely legal and constitutional. You just don't have any respect for the rule of law- normal for a lefty.

Are you illiterate?
It would appear so. Phil may be an expert on firearms, but he did not take the Canadian Firearms Safety Course. Too young? LOL

I don't agree with it. I'm just telling you how they see it. Their country was founded behind the gun. They won their independence from Britain's tyranny by fighting. I spent a lot of time in the U.S when i was running my business. To them a gun is a symbol of freedom. They have a specific amendment in the constitution for it.

It goes back to the history of how their country was founded, plus it's in their constitution. Sorry shack you just don't get it. You do realize they won their freedom behind the barrel of a gun, correct?

I see your point, but I suspect it is a minority view.

I lived in USA for a while, and I think I have visited all states on business. There may be 30 or 40 % (my personal view) that see guns as a symbol of freedom, but it does not extend to California or New York.

Yes, a minority see guns as a symbol of freedom. Probably closer to 30% than 40. Most gun owners quietly have a hand gun or a rifle stored away in their house. They might go to the range to practice shooting once in a blue moon. I suspect this is similar to Canada.

This minority is very vocal and together with the NRA they can get a lot of gun owners of the quiet type worked up over gun regulation.

I most certainly did take the safety course, and yes you can walk around Toronto with a rifle so long as its not done in a threatening manner (I forgot to mention the rifle cannot be loaded). Of course I dont recommend doing this because you'll probably get your ass shot by the cops. I just wanted to post this so you lefties could have a meltdown upon reading it (thanks for not disappointing me :biggrin1:)

Legally its true, there is no law preventing someone from walking around Toronto with a hunting rifle so long as they have a PAL

Please give us advance notice if you plan to walk into the parliament building with an - unloaded - rifle. I would not want to miss that.
