Speed alone, in the context of this conversation doesn't cause the majority of accidents....

It does reduce the time to act and increases the energy in the collision.

It's completely reasonable to have lower speed limits in areas with high pedestrian traffic and especially where children commonly are and laws are useless without enforcement. I would think that 50 cameras is more cost efficient than hiring 3 shifts of cops to do the same job (though who knows with bureaucratic cost management).

I basically know where all these cameras are and my routes through Durham avoid these all the time. I will take a side street and get around.

In Toronto - there is one street that I have to travel down that has one. I set my cruise at 40. Pisses the people off behind me and once a car sped around me in the on-coming lane, he was busted and I laughed my ass off.

Cameras should be for assholes like that, not the average person just going 10 over.

I still cant get over 50km/h. Shit head move lol. 10-15 on the streets no big deal.

Highways is different for obvious reasons. Faster lanes to the left, slower to the right, people who don’t follow this are morons.

So they'll use 3 to 4 officers plus a drone and cruisers to catch speeders now. I wonder what the return is on investment is? It's got to cost a minimum of $500K a year not including court costs.

Ever since Covid hit, the driving and parking has become a nightmare in the city. All these useless bike lanes are gonna choke the f out of everybody when life gets back to normal. The main arteries of the city have been taken over by bike lanes. The idiots at City Hall either don’t drive or they have a carphobia. I was at Bloor just east of Sherbourne a week ago and TWO car lanes are being used for a bike lane (both sides). Just wait till this Covid shit is over and people flock back. And those rarely used bike lanes are permanent.

Plus, they have dropped speeds on various roads. The road which was originally designed for 60/kph are now at either 50 or 40kph. Tory needs to get his head out of a sand and stop his war on cars. This guy was elected to ease the traffic not to choke it down.
