Part of the reason why Trump is doing this to both Denmark and to Canada is because neither country is coming close to meeting its 2% of GDP expenditure on national defense. Denmark is 1.65% as of 2023 and Canada is a woeful 1.38%. Denmark is also the worst when it comes to % of defense spending on equipment.

Why do you think there are only a few mines in Greenland, when there are lots of minerals. Do you think Denmark has prevented mining?

The conditions for mining is very poor, with access to the mine site only 4 months a year, and brutal conditions.

He thinks it because he only knows what his Rightie/Trump algorithm feeds him.

And as you say, mining from atop an ice cap in inhospitable conditions most of the year is not cost effective. Never mind the remote location both in terms of bringing in and operating equipment and shipping raw materials. We in Ontario have a treasure trove of minerals in the Ring of Fire that is only a hundred km from roads and it is still not being developed.

"If Denmark calls for help, France will be there with other European Union countries who have expressed very strong support for Denmark during a recent meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers, with several considering also deploying troops to Greenland
