Here
Your insurance can be effectived for any moving violations if it's your first ticket probably not. Sometimes the picture of the driver is taken as well.

I'm not a lawyer but I would think it's hard to fight. They have photographic proof after all.

Yes, it's the tax payers you're fighting against so why should any law abiding tax payer help you with this if you are indeed guilty of the offense.

I remember about 20 years ago in Winnipeg there was a American tourist who'd driven up to go duck hunting. He blew through a speed camera at about 3 am. He saw the camera flash, stopped, pulled over and retrieved his shotgun and blew the speed camera to bits. Police were still able to retrieve an image of his vehicle and licence plate and he was subsequently arrested and charged with vandalism and firearm offences.

The best part?

Manitoba doesn't fine out-of-province speeders caught on cameras. His plates were from Minnesota, so he never would have received a ticket.

As already mentioned, the ticket goes to the owner of the vehicle and not the driver. If it was you just pay it. If someone else have them repay you.
That you're insurance goes up with a speeding ticket is something you always hear but very rarely happens. LE likes to say, if they pull you over, that your insurance goes up. It doesn't. The only way it will go up is if an insurance company, during a random customer check, sees you got a ticket. Otherwise, your insurance won't go up.
Speaking from experience on that from a few years ago.

As they have no way of determining who the driver was, if you read the city and provincial laws on this, it is an offence against the PLATE, not the driver... if you don't pay as the plate owner you may not be able to renew, but as the driver, they have NO WAY of proving you were there, so therefore your insurance is NOT affected.

Unless something has changed in the past few years, insurance companies are not and have never been notified when you get a ticket. A few years ago, I got 3 significant speeding tickets in less than a year and nothing happened to my insurance rates. I also asked a friend who's with LE and he eventually told me they don't contact insurance companies. And I talked to an insurance agent who's a friend - not my insurance company - and she said the company is not notified about speeding tickets and they only know of them when the company runs across them on random checks.

Your insurance company is automatically notified when you get a speeding ticket and your insurance increased for the next 3 years. Two more speeding tickets within the 3-year period will lead to cancellation of your insurance. Verify with your insurance company if in doubt.
Insurance companies don't get automatically notified, they have to inquire. Each time the insurance companies inquire on a persons driving status they have to pay a fee. Sometimes they do random checks, if you have bad record they may check more often. Sometimes you get away with it. This is what the Insurance Bureau told me.

This is not correct at all for a photo radar speeding ticket.

They can not contact your insurance company because the ticket is against the car, not the actual driver. No DL is used.

I talked to ticket fighters. They said treat it as a parking ticket. No points on license and no insurance implications . They will not even fight it for you. So, even if it is a bad ticket, you have to pay. I suppose you could fight it on your own but what is the point? Just pay it as you would a parking ticket. Not worth the effort to do otherwise

I was worried that as my car was involved in a traffic violation the insurance would go up on my car regardless of who was driving

Cheers
