Ya muscle backs hurt my forearms. I like the ball flight though. It's tough going through the different forged irons as companies bend the irons at different angles these days, like a pw from Titleist would be a gap or sw at other makes
Lofts of each companies vary so much. Should actually just call clubs by their degree of loft not by iron number.

For beginners, it's recommended to start with a basic set of golf clubs that includes a driver, a fairway wood, a hybrid club, a few irons (6, 8, and PW), and a putter. This mix of clubs provides versatility and forgiveness while learning the game's fundamentals.

I think that is extremely smart for a beginner as there is nonsense having an entire set. The difference between hitting a 9 iron and 7 iron distance won’t be drastic. Golf is expensive so make sure you like it before you go out and spend money on a full set.

There is a website forum called Toronto Golfnuts. They have some Specials and regularly advertise various golf warehouse sales.
You can buy some Demo clubs. The other alternative is to wait until the Black Friday or better still Boxing Day sales.
