In Siem Reap get a tuk yuk driver for $10/day, you can book at your hotel. He will take you through the temples and anywhere you want to go at night. There is a huge karaoke club in the east end of the city where half the girls are SPs, and there is also a good brothel just north of Taiphul Street. Avoid the Vietnamese brothels in SR - diseases (at least that's what the locals say).

Be sure to take a day trip from SR to Kompong Phluk, the village built on stilts on the water. Your tuktuk driver can take you to the boat dock where you can hire a long boat to take you there. Its pretty otherworldly.

In Bangkok, the river canal cruises are super cool, just fascinating. Take one of the ones that get you into the narrow canals where people live. Jim Thompson's house is a fantastic visit too - and is accessible from the water busses. I recommend you stay near Soi Cowboy (better than Nana and safer than Patpong or whatever the other one is called). If you want a unique souvenir of your trip look up Monk's Bowl Village in BKK. You'll need to take a mix of public transport and tuktuk to get there but its worth the effort, and it sounds like you're a traveller so that won't trouble you. Also, I'd take a couple nights to go to Pattaya. The ocean boulevard and Walking Street are 5 miles of sex and booze - not many places (if any) like it on earth.

Enjoy.

Avoid the coast when you are in Bali - boring clubs and Australian surf bums. Rent a motorbike and truck around the interior, it's stunning! Jungles and volcanoes all up in that bitch!

If you are taking the SO and are going to be in Bali, then definitely do the motorcycle thing I suggested earlier. It's a tiny island, you can get to any point from any point well within the day trip. Batur Volcano is a stunningly gorgeous destination. But it's the trip there and back that will be the coolest part - jungles, terraced rice fields in mountainsides, funky villages. Not much traffic too (which was nice seeing as I don't know shit about riding a motorbike nor about Brit-style lefthand driving lanes). Best way to see Bali, and a singular cool experience.
