It's amazing how paranoid people can get over a place they have never visited.
I use to go over there routinely and hobbied extensively (using the same common sense I use here). I never caught anything over there although I always had myself checked on my return. The Go-Go bars have girls checked weekly (how many are checked here?) and for less than full service cost here - the girls will spend the whole day with you acting as interpreters and tour guides. My first elephant ride was courtesy of a beautiful bar girl.
It is a little sad because you denying yourself a wonderful experience because of fear of the unknown.

A lot of misinformation and just plain bullshit on here imo.
1. Most girls in pattaya insist on using a condom, I've barebackked more than a few times though.
2. Soi 6 is the red light area with mostly 6 and 7s in the looks department, the odd hottie to be found though.
3. Bar girls are checked every 3 months, not weekly.
4. Girls can be scammers if you let them. Most want to do the deed and be on with their life and are happy to leave with some money in their purse. Just as many foreign scammers.
5. I've done all the acronyms in over 12 trips and never caught anything.
6. Riding a scooter in pattaya you will get pulled over and pay a fine, guaranteed. Plus no insurance so you're on your own if you injure a thai.
7. Only problems I've really had there I caused myself.
8. I was in bk when the coup was on and curfew in effect, little creepy walking home at 5am and being the only person on the street except for tents and scary looking dudes with bandanas covering their faces.

Wow I lived there for work from 2011-2013 and the above is completely inaccurate. I ate street food regularly and you have no concerns with regards to food.
Escorts there will almost all entirely require condoms from all I have seen and heard while living there.
lastly Bangkok is very safe, worst case is realistically you may get a bar bill padded or extra drinks charged if you dont watch it but most are fine.
I am saying this with my 3 visits experience to Thailand.
You can never go wrong or lost in this place for this hobby.
Bangkok is diversified, Pattaya is cheap and Phuket is expensive.

I get your point, but it is not the same. The first time I was in Pattaya was 1982. I have lived there on and off for 5 years. There is nothing anyone can tell me about Pattaya and the ladies that I do not know. I have many friends that have lived in Pattaya for 20 plus years, who can tell many more stories.. I always enjoy reading about guys trips and think they know it all. It is a great time. I am currently there.
