Monty Python was almost afraid to joke about Luchino Visconti, his Death in Venice is considered a GOAT film. Is Timothee Chalemet riding on Bjorn Andresen's coat-tails?

Call me by your Name does have a Death in Venice, vibe to it. Now Chalemet is fronting Dune. What was sensational in 1971 is passe today.

Death in Venice , even made it into The Sopranos.

I didn't know there was a documentary. As far as I know, he couldn't handle the publicity crush after the film came out and became something of a hermit.

The first Dune was a pile of pure cancer, not even old people cancer but juvenile cancer. Really painful cancer that kills little kids before they get a chance to live their lives.


The commercials don't exactly make me hard for the current movie.

I'll be going back to the theater less frequently if I have access to WB's film-noir library.

Hard to believe Gun Crazy came out in 1950. It's the first attempt of a film made from actual crimes, the second was Natural Born Killers. The film was so shocking for it's time it affected the careers of the actors who played the husband and wife killers.

Guillermo Del Toro's remake of Nightmare Alley comes out during the holiday season. I hope he does it justice, there hasn't been a decent film-noir this century. The last great one was LA Confidential, imho the best film of the 90's.

I agree with the No.1 pick but Hollywood did not invent the Film-Noir, it was a feature of Germany's Wiemar Republic, banned by the Nazis as Entartete Kunst (Degenerate Art).
