Have any of you watched that Steven Soderberg movie The Girlfriend Experience? I'd be interested to hear what the SPs think. I understand it's a movie and dramatizes things, but it's definitely a better portrayal of the job than that horrible Pretty Woman.

IMHO its an interesting take and I like Sasha Grey (too bad she comes off so damn stupid) but she's way more emotionally attached to her clients than the typical girl here is. Events that occurred were relatively in line with reality though...

Its interesting to note that while she's gorgeous her lethargy would probably garner her a lot of negative reviews on here...

Somehow TERB lost an extensive thread from July(?).

At least Pretty Woman was a fun movie (total fantasy of course)

I found it very boring. and no excitement at all the tv series secret diary of a call is more exciting then this movie. I am glad I didn't pay to watch it I watched it online.

I might watch it again to make a review of it for my blog.

I had to turn it off after 10 min....it was bad.

There is a Canadian directed movie called "Girlfriend Experiance" that looks to have a little more promise and substance then soderberghs version.

I was surfing the web trying to get ideas for my blog and came across this documentary

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq5IM_Ur5FQ

it from 20/20 I do not know when it aired on tv I usually get every documentary out there on prostitution it must have aired when I didn't have cable.

I am wondering if I can get a hard copy of it or a copy I can download to dvd.

For the time being I am trying to watch what is available on youtube.

Read this if you give a shit . .

Thread from the beginning of the summer.

Note my review of the movie in the thread.

https://terb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=238302

I wached the movie twice as it was free on cable, yes it was slow, questionable acting by Sasha, but it was interesting, reminded me of dry russian lit where if you dont pay attention you miss the story. What shocked me is that the mainstream reviewers gave it high marks, I assumed b/c of the subject matter and the actress the mainstream would be negative, they were not.

I suspect that if Sasha`s character Chelsea had to watch this movie she would be bored too . . . Ill leave it at that.

I ordered this by accident from Rogers (I assumed it would be the Soderberg movie) and was stunned by how good it was. I can't vouch for the accuracy - it portrays an obsessive hobbier - but it was completely engrossing.

That's how I saw it, it was a bit drawn out....but there was definitely something there that kept my attention.
It's not going to be Oscar material, but definitely one worth a look. Apparently all the principals, except the boyfriend, weren't actors.

I think most people missed the point of this movie, which was about the men and what they say on their "dates"

Sasha was supposed to be a blank cipher... and her lack of acting skills are not relavent

Call me a rube, but I definitely missed the point of the movie. I saw it the other night and I agree with those who say it was boring.

First- Consider "Being There". An excellent movie, about a 'blank cipher', very well acted by Peter Sellers.

Second- How the heck can there be any reality, or comedy or drama in men talking to a "blank cipher" ? She was SUPPOSEDLY playing the role of a TOP quality SP. None of them are 'blank ciphers".
