I quit smoking cigarettes 5 years ago, never want to even chance starting again.
Would love to smoke weed, but afraid it would start me with the cigs again.
Would appreciate any comment.

On this topic, can someone point me to the song that goes --
"..Johnny like to get high... you can see it in his eyes..."

It's a country/folk song, I think. But searching hasn't turned up the lyrics or artist.

"Suzie like to get high....you can see it in her smile..." :)

Perry....forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't Marley die of cancer?
What I was talking about is lung cancer... I don't know how much THC you would have to absorb to affect the whole body... or if it is even possible. I haven't seen any comments or research on that.

And, yes, Marley did die from cancer... but it was as a complication from an infection he suffered to his foot as far as I can recall.

I am sure he was not toking through his toes! ;)

And, benito... no linkeage there except what is in your own mind.

r u saying you want to smoke weed regularly or just once in a while??

I used to smoke both, as well i knew others who were doing the same. From my experience and others that i know, you usually just smoke 1 of the 2.

If you smoke weed regularly and decide to quit 1 day then ya you mite get urge to smoke cigs again.
But if you just smoked a little weed once in a while or something, then it shouldnt be a problem.
If you are smoking cigs now, and then start 2 smoke weed regularly then you shouldnt have urge to smoke cigs. It should actually help you quit.

Those are from my experience and ppl i know, but keep in mind that everyone is different.
For me weed is usually on and off. If/when i smoke, the more W i smoke the more i want it. I'll get to a point where i just get sick of it then quit.

I quit smoking cigs a long time ago too but i still smoke weed everyday, and not once have i had the urge to start smoking cigs. This is just my experience as well as a couple of my buddies. Funny thing is that if i'm drunk, i will actually have a smoke. I had a cigarette yesterday just for the hell of it and it actually made me sick to my stomach, then i had a joint and i was all better. :p
Everybody has to have a vice of some sorts, it doesn't make you a bad guy unless it becomes abused.

Some weed thoughts.

In moderation, weed can certainly relax one. Prescription drugs for stress are over-prescribed.

I firmly believe weed is much less harmful than alcohol to those who somke it and to the folks who are around smokers as opposed to drinkers.

Some folks I find are completely negative about the topic of weed and are too fast to slam those who use it.

Personally, I take medication that makes me super sick if I have anything beyond a couple of drinks. I should have a choice to use weed instead.

Now, we are very fortunate we live in Canada. The U.S. really has villified weed. I know - I do pardon me did some work in the U.S. I was forced to give up this position because they wanted to do a drug test. I refused - in Canada, I believe we can refuse, in the U.S. you can not and milions of people in the U.S have their right to privacy violated by these tests.

Continued Weed

These test may be unreliable. Also, because weed stays in your system long, users are encouraged to turn to harder drugs, which can be out of your system in 2 days (weed may be detected up to 28 days).

The U.S has a list of Controlled Substances and lists weed with all hard drugs.

So in essence if you are tested, It does not matter whether you use weed of Heroin, you failed the drug test. This can have some very unpleasant consequences for the ones failing. And what is the test was flawed?

Yet you can be a raging alcoholic and that does not matter.

Canada's position, I believe is that present impairment is what matters, not your history that you smoked the evil weed. And in Canada, it is a violation of privacy rights I believe to do tests, unless your work takes you into the U.S.

Personnally, the insistance of a test proved very hard on me... I refused the test, but was forced to give up a position I enjoyed. Even though it was only occasional.

I was also floored by the amount of "detox kits" available in the US flushing you out so you can pass tests. Who knows how healthy this can be.

As long as weed is done responsibly, and in moderation (as with anything), it can prove to be beneficial. It has helped me with a medical condition.. and I am going to approach my doctor for an actual prescription.

We are lucky we live in Canada.
