It's an interesting thought. I think if Michelle really wanted the nomination it would be hers. She's the only Democrat that could step in front of Kamala without there being a lot of bitching and whining.
In regards to your point that Kamala has a real shot at beating Trump, of course she does. The race is where it was before Biden started melting down. We had old & slipping versus loud & obnoxious. Voila! Dems insert young & occasionally silly and the focus is back on Trump's negatives.
Kamala has to be careful how she plays her previous positions and her Senate record. As a commentator said, the Democrats have traded some Pennsylvania voters for some California voters. Regardless of her 2020 campaign, losing candidates are allowed resets. Let's see what she does with it.
