Looking at it another way, you've got a busy family life, helping parents and kids, a home and garden to tend to, and are trying new things in the kitchen. If that keeps you so busy that you can't hobby on the weekend, I'd consider that a pretty good weekend.
I see opportunities for hobbying as just that... opportunities. If the opportunity arises, great. If there's no opportunity this weekend, there will always be another opportunity, and you'll enjoy it when it comes.
I get that you've got blue balls. But it's actually a good thing that life gets in the way of the hobby.

I hear this so much with my clients, I don't understand it. Before I got in this field I was married. We had a sex life. Probably 4/5 times a week. If we didn't have sex I'd think something was wrong. It never felt routine, never!
