NEW YORK – Former President Bill Clinton had two stents inserted in one of his heart arteries after being hospitalized with chest pains, an adviser said Thursday. The adviser, Douglas Band, said Clinton underwent the procedure at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Clinton "is in good spirits and will continue to focus on the work of his foundation and Haiti's relief and long-term recovery efforts," Band said.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton left Washington and headed to New York to be with her husband.

Bill Clinton once remarked that his stay on this Earth may not be a long one because he has a family history of short lives. I think he said this around the time of Ronald Reagan's passing. Reagan and Gerald ford both lived into their 90's.

Agreed with best wishes. Stents after a by-pass is not great news. It means that the arteries are restricted again, but stents have an increasingly better track record.

Obviously we have major heart disease in the family and you become an expert on this stuff.

ALL human beings have lots of heart and arteries issues, maybe some cultures more than others based on the foods eaten, but it's not much of a greater risk than any other. No matter what culture you are from, take care of yourself.
