what are "those floating concrete pads" ?

Several concrete companies like Brooklin Concrete make "pads" to act like a foot, and disperse the weight of the deck over a larger area (square inches) rather than just the end size of the 4X4 or 6X6 post. As it is a floating deck, you don't need to sink your support posts in the ground to deal with frost heaves, so they made floating pads to give another option to DIY guys.
