At a SP near me
I’ve been going to Halibut House which is a chain. I’m sure there’s one in your area. However I do find the quality and portion size differs by location. But dang it’s expensive. 2 pc halibut and chips is $30+

Olde York Fish and Chips, on Laird.
As I live in Leaside,(in a Condo, not a $2 million home), we occasionally would order takeout, 3 months ago I ordered 1 halibut fish and chips and 1 halibut only, cost was $32. a little pricey but worth it as their
fish is very good. Last month I ordered exactly the same, never asked about the price. Cost? $46. Totally ridiculous. Never again.

Another vote for Halibut House. They do reduced price specials on Sundays and Mondays.

Fearless Meat, burger place on Kingston Rd., does one piece haddock and fries for $6.99, two pieces for $11.99. Good chips (and plentiful) and decent fish. Great place, the owner gives out free meals to people in need.

In Whitby there's Halibut King at Dundas and Hopkins. Prices used to be amazing for the quality fish and chips they served. The price has gone up so it's not quite so reasonable any more, but the quality is still there. Same plaza as the Mr Sub, across the street from Marigold Ford.

Fish and Chips is relatively easy to prepare at home at less than a third of that price.

I like fish and chips, but dang it, I hate to be served with the oil still GLISTENING on the fish or the chips. I wish I could insist on a piece that has been allowed to drain for a good 5 minutes.

Tastes better too - a bit more crunchy.

Firstly, Olde York Fish N Chips is one of the best in Totonto now that Penrose is permanently closed. We actually eat seafood at home 2 to 3 times a week, haddock, salmon, etc. and my wife coming from the coast of South America knows how to cook fish, however, after spending a whole day out and about, we would treat ourselves to takeout fish and chips once in a while. The whole point is that we are getting goughed by price increases everywhere you go. Just bought a fillet mignon at Metro for my Saturday dinner $34.50 llb. At least I can go to St. Louies on weekday afternoons for $5. beer.

I remember Penrose, it was great, yesteryears quality which has mostly vanished from today. The Olde York Fish N Chips is not what it used to be. Price inflation and stagflation have hit hard everywhere.
