I didn't watch it because of the date but was there something still relevant ? Or didn't you notice the date?
Oh…. Zeihan is political strategist. In his 2015 book he said Russia would invade Ukraine by 2015 because of their collapsing population. They have 8 million men in their 20’s this year. It goes down drastically from here.

watch it. Then watch his other shit.

I do watch his stuff. I have no idea if what half of what he says or predicts is accurate but holy shit does he ever seem to be incredibly well informed!

By and large I learn a lot from watching him.

One thing I saw recently was his analysis on Russia not running out of money anytime soon simply by being able to send airplane loads of gold bullion to pay for anything. And Russia can just keep mining and refining more. Not too much advanced technical knowledge to dig and refine gold.

And moreover Russia's hiring out Wagner in exchange for gold mining concessions in Africa. And the unlikely prospect of flipping those governments.

George Friedman is good too… but nowhere near as entertaining. Zeihan got his start working for George.

In the long run like in the coming decades for the rest of
the century Russia had better shrink its sphere of influence
for its own good. Its leaders must be smarter than me and
realize that soon. The Ukraine war is already driving Russia
to China. Russia would be better be content with keeping
the territories they already seized in the war (which I think is
time for them to terminate) and withdraw its influence from
Ukraine and the rest of Europe. By about 2030 all infrastructures
needed to complete Russia's diversion of its fossil fuel export
from EU to China and the rest of Asia will be in place. Until then
the west will stoop to dirty tricks like price capping to continue
buying Russia's natural gas and other commodities at
discount price while keeping up with sanctions to weaken
the country. Russia will be better off to be dissociated from
EU totally though a price surely has to be paid.
How much more can Russia shrink its sphere of influence in the west? The Baltics are in NATO, Finland is on the way, Ukraine is lost for the next 5 generations and the Stalin of Belarus is standing over his own grave. What's left, Moldova? How about projecting power into the Baltic and beyond? Oh, right. Baltic is Mare Nostrum of NATO. The Black Sea, blocked by NATO. And no one wants to negotiate with a cornered rat. Too bad, there's a real opportunity on the table, but all want conflict.

Europe can wean itself off Russian gas totally but the capital
needed to build the required infrastructures would be enormous.

I was using the word woke in a loose sense. It might have been
more precise to say the PM of Finland is of the woke generation as I
do not know Sanna Marin well enough to say how woke she is.
I could call for instance Jacinda Ardern another woke PM. As you
observed the woke are more ready to speak out on issues like
LGBT rights, social and racial justice. By my own experience
the younger generation who are more likely to be liberal and
woke are more inclined to oppose Putin over the Ukraine conflict.
I see being woke as neither a good nor bad thing. I was simply
making an observation.
I'm not sure that support or opposition to Putin follows party or political lines.

The war in the Ukraine is being supported by liberals and conservatives alike (my own views about stopping the war at this point are already set out in other posts). That's what keeps it going. To the extent that some on the right are concerned that this support from the west is not money or lives well spent, the only conservative value at play is to try to take some of the emotion out of the decision making. I don't think many people on either side of the political spectrum actually support Putin or support military aggression, except for a small few on the far left who are communists and who therefore accept the Russian state propaganda.

From a climate change perspective Finland would deserve to be
crowned the most disgusting country in the world or at least in
the parts of the world that buy into climate change. On a per capita
basis Finns probably burn more woods than any other people among
developed nations.

They hated Russia because their former ally Nazi Germany was crushed by
Soviet Union?
How to let people know that you know nothing about history without actually saying it.

More good news for the military industry. Both new
members will need to buy the most advanced fighter
jets to help Ukraine fighting future Russian invasion.

Not even close to Russia and Saudi Arabia.
