Isn't the fact that these decisions like a RED card and a penalty kick decide the outcome of who wins most of the time in soccer, morseso than hockey or baseball? Particularly because of the low scoring games. One goal is all it takes most of the time. Look at Spain today, definitely the better team, but they still lost. Not saying that the Swiss didn't deserve it, but it was just one game. Especially with the importance of the games in the World Cup.
Baseball's boring anyways, but a blown call in the thousands of games they play in isn't going to make or break a champion.
Being protected or off limits has nothing to do with honour. Gretzky was a great player yet I still hate him for that high stick on Gilmour but maybe the Leafs don't score on that power play, yes, even 4 minutes for bleeding. My point is that the officiating in soccer makes a greater impact on the game than does other sports given the fact that a penalty consequence, like a penalty kick or a red card decides the game because the scoring is so low.
You see a lot more diving in hockey now which sucks. Don't know if it's because of soccer but it's disgusting. I don't remember there being a great deal of diving before but it's definitely less prevalent than in soccer. The fact that there's so few goals in a game, that's the reason why all the players are looking for a penalty or a yellow card on the opposing team. Everyone seems to dive once they get in the box, I wonder why.
Get this stuff out of the game, and maybe we can really call it the beautiful game.
What's that magic spray made out of? They should have it in hockey to eliminate lower body injuries.
