What are some of your favourite U.S. cities? I've been to many cities around the world, but I haven't travelled that extensively in our beautiful neighbouring country down south.

Some of my favourite U.S. cities that I've been to are NYC, Chicago, Boston, Anchorage, Miami, Orlando, Newport, Bar Harbour.

Cities that I'd love to visit soon but haven't been to yet are LA, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, Seattle, San Antonio, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. (going there in 2 weeks), Honolulu, Phoenix, Austin.

New Orleans hands down. Mind you speaking some french/joual can help open doors that others might not have. IIRC one of only two cities in US that have the bars open 24/7 if that's your thing.

We popped over last winter. One street in the French Quarter looked almost normal. The rest of the city looks like a destroyed war zone.

Maybe wait several years till people are not sitting on ratty sofas in their front yards?

I haven't been to New Orleans since the hurricane. I am actually afraid to go. I spent my childhood in Louisiana, so visited that city often. It would break my heart to see those memories drowned.

San Francisco, Scottsdale, El Paso.
Understandable, but much has been reclaimed but the 200 year old plantations will never be the same. From what I hear from friends, even the 9th ward has made a small recovery in the last 6 months, from the jungle it had become in the last 6 years.

Second choice San Diego.

You popped over? Waiting for the cruise ship?

I wanted to see how they made Hot Sauce, and took a side trip to Avery Island. On the way back to Florida we popped down to New Orleans instead of driving back through Baton Rouge we popped down to New Orleans (about 2 hrs) and spent the night there.

Fair enough. there is plenty of work to be done but not many places suffered as the city did. The French quarter is almost completely recovered and it generates tremendous money for the city. The rest will take many years. So go and add to the recovery.

Don't laugh, but for GTA types, Cleveland is a great place to go. It's a reachable short drive (5 hours ). The downtown is clean and safe. The Historic Warehouse District has a great party atmosphere with restaurants and bars and music and areas closed off to traffic. It's a short walk to Browns Stadium for football, Quicken Loans Arena for the basketball Cavaliers, Progressive Field for the baseball Indians, the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame for music etc. I've spent 2 or 3 weekends there and always had a good time.

Pittsburg is in the same category, both distance and entertaiment-wise plus good shopping on the way down at Grove City Premium Outlets.

saw something on the housing market in cleveland and unless the downtown core is a treat, the rest looks like the rust belt big time, but I could be wrong .The city is tearing down houses with the blessing of the mortgage holder banks to save the other houses value around these homes.

Miami is awesome: Lincoln Street Mall, South Beach, ocean, Everglades, sports teams, golf, women etc.

Can we throw Detroit in there too? Just kidding. From what I've heard though, Cleveland and Pittsburgh are shitholes. There's a reason Lebron left Cleveland, and a great comedian referred to Pittsburgh as Shitsburgh. I'd still like to visit both cities though.

Detroit is a dump: HOWEVER it has great attractions to visit:
Henry Ford Museum
Chrysler Museum
Institute of Art
Motown Museum
Historical Museum
Comerica Park
Ford Rouge Factory Tour
and more
Also are some terrific examples of 1920s architecture

Lmao, sorry couldn't resist, but Cleveland pales in comparison to many other US cities.

The only good things about Pittsburg is Crosby, Lemieux and Deer Hunter. Not much happening anymore in a once proud city, steel is dead.

Another once proud city but a shell of its self today. This city's population has declined so much due to the automotive industry decline there. Real sad, some gorgeous, older buildings can be had for a song, real estate is dead. I heard the Pontiac Superdome, along with all its land, was recently sold to a Canadian for dirt cheap, I think less than the price of an average two storey in downtown Toronto. damn I'm pissed I could have bought it and held Terb parties, lol

I've been to many US cities through work and pleasure over the years and based on overall entertainment, things to do, points of interest, restaurants, hotels, shopping, real estate, variety, etc...., New York is the city, probably one of the best in the world, along with London and Rome IMO. It really is a happening place.

San Francisco - has a vibe that I can see actually myself living there.

Maybe Santa Fe if I wanted a quiet life.

I find NYC to be really overrated. Great city and all, and I've had some very memorable times there, but ultimately I'd have to put up with New Yorkers if I lived there.

I've been to Las Vegas once and had a blast. I want to go back sometime.
Miami is my favourite city only because that is where the cruise ships dock.
