Well, I guess it is the way you treat them when you get there. I mean, if you tell the cab driver to 'take me to the fuckin' hotel' he'll take you to "the fuckin' hotel' and treat you the same.blackdog said:I cant believe somebody siad Calgary. I avoid calgary like the plaig because of the reception I get every time i have to go there. Its one of the most barren and rude places ive ever been.
Everytime I've been there (many times in fact) I'm always treated exceptionally friendly by total strangers.
Here's some examples of what I mean:
1) I was in a canadian tire parking lot and looking for a spot. As I was driving down a lane someone can out of the store, waved at me to follow them, and gave me their spot.....
2) I was at the Keg for dinner with a co-worker. The waitress was tres hot. We were talking to her about what we were doing in town and when she took away our plates, she came back and had her break with us.
3) In another parking lot I was approached by a woman a little older than me and she was asking about my rental car (pt cruiser). She was thinking about buying one and wanted to know what I thought (and no, she wasn't trying to pick me up).
I could go on about the clubs etc too but sorry, I don't agree with you. Calgarians and just about as friendly as the folks in Salt Lake City and there they stop you on the street to chit chat!
I was going to say Banff and Miami too but Banff has way too much pollution now and Miami has too many bad areas and too many wannabe rock stars.
