Good ones , guys.
Ummm... that's not actually a Canadian song (it's a Joe Walsh cover, but the Triumph version does have some very good guitar work by Emmett...).pussylicker said:Rocky Mountain Way - Triumph

No worries. For what it's worth, I also prefer the Triumph version. The original uses a lot of slide guitar, which gives it more of a "twangy" sound... it's still great, but I was (am?) a huge Emmett fan, so obviously his playing is a little closer to my taste.pussylicker said:Hi Fuzzy,
Although I like the Eagles, the only Joe Walsh songs I have are Ordinary Average Guy and Life's Been Good. I do have Triumph's Rocky Mountain Way. Post was keeping in line with Canadian bands, artists, which was where I was probably thinking, more than content.
Thanks for the heads up
I had The Weight on my list, too, but I thought that if I listed too many, nobody else would post in this thread.shack said:Nobody mentioned probably the most influential Canadian act (along with Neil)....
The Band.
So very many artists cite them as being a huge influence. Even Eric Clapton wanted to be a member but he knew he wouldn't fit in.
As for my favourite Band song, I'd say "The Weight".
ah yes how I could forget Platinum Blonde :kfm said:Hold on.....................No Rush, Platinum Blonde, Corey Hart, Loverboy, Shania Twain, Celine Dion or Bryan Adams....I know these lists aren't complete or very accurate.
Come on, lets get with the program folks!
Did anybody buy the boxed set of The Band that came out just before Christmas? It's got everything they did in their different incarnations along with a DVD of never seen before performances. I was tempted, but seeing as I've got so much of it already I didn't feel like spending $100 for 2-3 discs worth of material I didn't have.Svend said:Here's a very cool song by the Canadian Squires who were also known as Levon & The Hawks when they recorded this single "Leave Me Alone" in 1964. They had just finished with Ronnie Hawkins and were a couple of years from touring with Bob Dylan. They later became The Band in 1968.
