Speaking of slaves, have you seen the movie Birth of a Nation? Great flick about Nat Turner. Very disturbing.
Not sure I want to see Birth of a Nation, it's too grim. When Nat Turner was captured, he was hung drawn and quartered.
Having said that, I'm sick to death of the Williams sisters winning everything in tennis. One is a cheater and the other can't drive a car.

Getting back to Nat Turner, Chris Rock is correct. After watching Django Unchained, I felt dirty leaving the theater. 12 Years A Slave is an entirely different matter, it was brutal. Following a timeline most of those slaves would have died very young. Patsey would not have seen her 22 birthday. After 12 Years, I couldn't watch Birth of a Nation.
Denzel recruited the black actors for American gangster. He knows talent.

Banshee has the best fight scenes bar none !!! Loved the series too bad good shows like this have a time line and it ended on a high note before losing itself to a bad plot line.

A minor difference between the book and movie was the rape scene. In a case of life imitating art, Nate Parker was accused of rape in his college years this led to some controversy before the movie was released and tarnished the movie. Still a very good movie imo even though it deal with a very dark part of American history.

Not sure if Quentin Tarantino directed the finale of Banshee, t certainly looked like he did. It has the most spectacular ending of ANY show. Danish actor Ulrich Thomsen was outstanding as Kai Proctor - an Amish Tony Soprano. He can currently be seen as Alexander Kirke in The Blacklist. The show is highly rated by IMDB, still don't understand why it was ignored during its run?
The outcome of Birth of a Nation was sad, considering the subject matter it deserved better. The rape allegation is costing Nate Parker, maybe he shouldn't have been so defiant about it. He auditioned for Marshall but Chadwick Boseman (42) got the role. I'm intrigued to see what Josh Gad can do in a dramatic role.
It has arrived, From Sid Vicious to Winston Churchill. Will the great Gary Oldman finally get the oscar he so richly deserves?

They went at it like cats in a bag on the set of MM:Fury Road, but it may have been part of George Miller's plan. In the original story Furiosa goes rogue after her younger sister, played by Teresa Palmer, becomes breeding stock for Joe. Palmer had to drop out due to pregnancy, Miller rewrote the script on the fly. According to Theron in her interview with Howard Stern, this added to the length of the shoot and caused friction all around.
The results were dazzling and it worked out for Teresa Palmer as well. She was great in Hacksaw Ridge.
