Could have been a very different weekend.
Vettel drove Manels car the other day at Silverstone. If those older cars had a similar accident there would be no chance of survival.
What flipped Zhou's car is the same thing that killed Greg Moore in 1999, the transition from grass to asphalt access road. Still some work to do with the safety of the race tracks.
Two things saved Zhou: the Halo system, which protected his head and carbon fiber car construction, which dissipated the shock of the impact. And come to think of it, several eminent persons in the profession were opposed to the Halo system.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. was opposed to the HANS device as well. Look where it got him a few races after it was released to the Nascar crowd.

Stunned Russell has not been given a grid penalty for the next race. No one thinks Russell is not wholly to blame for the crash...blocking gets you a 5 place grid penalty. Something seems fucked with the FIA and Merc

There are mixed feelings at Mercedes after the British Grand Prix. On the one hand there is joy after Lewis Hamilton's podium finish, but on the other hand there might have been more to it. With George Russell dropping out of the race, of course, but victory might also have been possible.

FIA wants a monopoly in F1. There's no need for Lewis Hamilton to retire, he's virtually guaranteed his 8th F1 title. If it happens, it will be his 3rd championship won through politics.
